The results of a Daily Kos/Research 2000 Poll of GOP voters should be a surprise to no one. A good portion of the questions focused on President Barack Obama. Among the lot of questions, like "Should Barack Obama be impeached, or not?", 39% said yes. When asked if he was a socialist, 63% said yes. When asked about his citizenship, 36% said he was not born in the US (with 22% saying they were not sure). And an amazing 31% (with 33% not sure) say that Barack Obama "is a racist who hates White people". Really? 64% of people who either think he's a racist or are on the fence about it? And 24% think he wants the terrorist to win, with 33% not sure?! I'm sorry to say it...but you people are hopelessly brain-washed/dead.

Well, maybe that's not fair. The bulk of the people on the GOP side of things tend to watch Fox News to get their information. And for anyone that saw Roger Ailes on This Week this past weekend can see why the GOP is really confused and intellectually off-kilter. These people are being lied to, and led to believing that the nation has democratically elected an evil darky that hates their white skin and loves brown-skinned terrorists. They also believe that Sarah Palin is more qualified to be President, by 53%-- FIFTY THREE PERECENT!!! Well, I mean, that's not too hard to believe...I guess. At the same time, 42% of voters are unsure of who they would support in 2012 (Palin got 16%, over Romney with 11% and Cheney with 10%).

When you watch Fox News and nothing else, this is what you're expected to believe. This is especially true if you don't read. ANYthing. And these people clearly don't read. But come on-- these people obviously have no clue. How can anyone with half a brain not see what has been going on in this country over the last 8 years, and still walk away thinking that Obama is bad for America? This is how much Fox News has been blowing sunshine and smoke up the butts of their viewers. These are people with pre-packaged beliefs, and Fox is feeding them exactly what they want to hear. They are already convinced, by and large, that a Black man has no business WHATSOEVER running the country...they are just too intellectually challenged to rationalize it without being called "racists" or "ignorant". That's where Fox News comes in-- taking their emotionally-charged, uneducated views, and offering psuedo-intellectual reasoning. They have "experts" that can help them articulate their opposition with the tinge of illegitimacy that racist views carry with them.

Now, look-- not EVERYONE is a racist...but if you think Barack Obama is a racist, or a "reverse racist"...that's exactly what you are. It's easier to deflect your views onto someone else, instead of taking accountability for yourselves. We have hundreds of years of racial conditioning to refer to in this country to illustrate this. GOP politicians are clearly using tactics such as the "Southern Strategy" to win votes and support. But it's not just race baiting in play here...

An overwhelming 77% think that gays should not be allowed to marry. 68% believe that gays should not receive any state or federal benefits. 73% don't want gays teaching in public schools. Wow. Bigotry is alive and well with these people, that's for sure. Racism is dumb enough, but I've never understood the anti-gay thing. Who gives a sh*t?! What difference does it REALLY make-- do you find yourselves that appealing that you think that homosexuals just can't help themselves and will want to *ss-rape you against your will?! I can't tell sometimes if it's ignorance or narcissism. But it's more-than-likely religion, which brings us to the next chunk of polling info.

77% of those polled think that the book of Genesis should be taught in schools along side evolution(!). 67% think that unless you believe in Jesus Christ, you are going to hell (if, that is, you even believe in a heaven or hell). It's funny how these people put so much value in religion, yet believe that gays are evil, our President is a racist who hates them for being who they are, and when 91% of those polled support the death penalty. Can't you just feel that Christ-like glow?

I have been struggling over the last few years over what political party I should be affiliated with. I have some conservatives views, but I also have liberal views. A poll like this shows me that I have absolutely no business being involved with the GOP. AT ALL. But I don't consider myself a Democrat, because I hate the way they govern; they are weak, complacent, and wishy-washy. Moderates tend to be light-Republicans. Progressives are Dem-Conserva-crats...sigh. I don't know. I like Barry H. a lot. I don't like a lot of his team, though. And there is not one leader in the Republican party that is worth a bucket of warm spit.

We need a few new parties. Preferably, one that does not involve tea bags.

But the friendly folks that called GWB a nazi are what?

They're idiots as well. I did not like Bush either, but I gave him a chance after 9/11...that is, until I found out that he and his administration ignored warnings (among OTHER things). And as hyperbolic as that silly "Nazi" rhetoric was, for the most part, Bush earned his criticism. This was coming at Obama since day -100.

Agree in part. The criticism of any President starts almost immediately - comes with the territory.

It would be real interesting to see a story about how independents and moderates feel about BO nowadays.

As they supplied the votes to get him elected, they are the ones that should be spotlighted.  The fact that Conservatives don't like him is a given....not like he has helped to bridge any gaps between the two parties - not with the way he tries to shove bills thru Congress.

I agree with you too, also in part.

You know, I have to tell you-- I was never expecting this man to walk on water, or convert said water into wine. What I did expect was an intelligent leader who could TRY to navigate our way out of a mess that the previous administration left; a solid fact that Conservatives stubbornly ignore. I mean look, you don't have to like the man-- no one has to like him. But the rhetoric and the lies are a bit over the top-- even more so than what was going on during the Bush years. When lefties criticized Bush, it was mostly comical and silly. But when you are seeing people holding up signs of Obama as an African witch doctor, and hearing people say "I don't want a nigger running this country"...again, think and feel what you want, but that is completely counterproductive. You can get passed the fact that Bush was a rich boy that was handed everything his entire life. You cannot get passed the fact that Obama is Black. And holding that as one of the primary arguments against him or his presidency (which an alarming amount of people do)...well, he can't change who he is. And it's only when someone (God forbid)literally takes a shot at him, inspired by the really over-the-top baiting that's been going on, that people will wake the f**k up and pay more attention to that craziness.

There are many legitimate things to criticize Obama about. It's the over-the-top idiocy and unnecessary race-baiting that I don't like. And most people don't want to admit that it's going on. Just asked the Southern Poverty Law Center how serious it is.
