More and more reports of bogus voter challenges in key states have surfaced this week, tens of thousands of eligible votes being removed or blocked from registering.
The New York Times based its findings on reviews of state records and Social Security data. The Times said voters appear to have been purged by mistake and not because of any intentional violations by election officials or coordinated efforts by any party.
A new report shows that the purging process is shrouded in secrecy, prone to error and vulnerable to manipulation.
Thursday, October 9, 2008 :A new study by the Brennan Center for Justice has found voters across the country are being purged through a process that is shrouded in secrecy, prone to error and vulnerable to manipulation. The Brennan Center is calling on states to develop and publish uniform, non-discriminatory rules for purges; provide public notice of pending purges; make purge lists publicly available; and develop rules for individuals to challenge the purge list.
NowPublic member RayBanBro66 posted regarding the purges as well, and there are more stories coming out all the time.
This is troubling news. I feel a case of dejavu coming in about 27 days. Only thing different this time around is that a different party is in control .
Last Friday, we told you about the bogus challenges --- 6,000 of them --- made by the Montana GOP against voters in six Democratic-leaning counties in the state, based solely on the fact that the voters had filed change of address forms with the U.S. Postal Service within the last 18 months. The GOP claimed, with a straight face, they were fighting "voter fraud", even though there was indications of no such fraud, and the result was little more than chaos at the election offices, just 30 days out from a major election.
There are a number of sites and organizations like My Vote, My Right set up to help people make sure their vote gets counted.
To ensure that every eligible voter can vote and have their vote counted, union members and activists are working through the AFL-CIO My Vote, My Right voter protection project to ensure the ballot process is run fairly. (A new website now offers help to voters who have questions about voting, including where to register. The National Campaign for Fair Elections launched www.866ourvote.org and spotlighted a toll-free voting rights hotline, 1-866-OUR-VOTE, operated by a nonpartisan coalition of groups, including the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and the AFL-CIO. Also check out the Voter Bill of Rights for Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Pennsylvania by clicking the state name.)

How is this not a misleading headline? The 6,000 challenges were local to the Montana GOP. The rest of the charges that the GOP made against ACORN - the organization Obama gave $800,000 to this year and (I think. need to check this) was a community organizer for - are sticking to the point that ACORN's offices are being shut down by the feds in some states.
You're not going to able to counter the long history of the Democrats and vote-fraud, btw. It is near conclusive that JFK won because of ballot box stuffing in Chicago, and Nixon bowed out gracefully.
That can't happen anymore, though. Democrats are pushing the idea that the people taking bullets for them overseas are "fascists" if they merely differ in ideology. That's too stark a line to say one party is interchangeable for another.
