Gay Community “Disingenuous,” Says  Huckabee,  and “Children Are Not Puppies”

Repeal of DADT and DOMA,  Gay Marriage  and Adoption,  and Obama Health care derided

At a the College of New Jersey in Trenton,    GOP Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee compared the legalization of gay marriage to the endorsement of other activities "outside the ideal",  such as polygamy, drug use, and incest.

“You don’t go ahead and accommodate every behavioral pattern that is against the ideal,” he said. “That would be like saying, well, there are a lot of people who like to use drugs, so let’s go ahead and accommodate those who want to use drugs. There are some people who believe in incest, so we should accommodate them. There are people who believe in polygamy, so we should accommodate them.” Huckabee said civil unions are "not necessary."

Huckabee also stated that "children are not puppies",  and that in terms of gay adoption, gay advocacy had been "disingenuous".

In preparation for a presidential run in 2012,  Huckabee has said he is against marriage equality,

Here’s the list of everything Mike Huckabee has recently said he’s against:

gay marriage,  gay adoption,  drug use,  the repeal of "Don't Ask,  Don't Tell",  separation of politics and religion,  the repeal of Defense of Marriage Act,  and CPAC.

However,  some say that rather than energizing a conservative, populist base with such anti-gay rhetoric,  it is more likely he will go the way of Senator Rick Santorum,  who is no longer a senator, and who had much anti-gay rhetoric as part of his public persona.

Referring to his "crash and burn"  remarks,  liberals view Huckabee as outside of popular national opinion on gays and morality, and generally out of touch.

But some conservatives believe his remarks are a political and strategic attempt to appeal to the wide base in the pyramid of the Tea Party movement.

There are now so many brands of conservatism,  according to The Daily Caller blog,  and whether one is a Mike Huckabee conservative, or a Sarah Palin kind, or of the Ron Paul stamp, or the John McCain persuasion,  makes all the difference regarding which type of rhetoric is acceptable.

Huckabee has also said he wants to “isolate” HIV/AIDS victims.

Huckabee tries and fails to backpedal

The student publication with which Huckabee conducted his discourse,  is a campus magazine  backed by an affiliate of the Center for American Progress, a prominent liberal think tank.

Huckabee put himself in an embarrassing and humorous light,  when he tried to suggest that the student interviewer had distorted his words:

"The young college student hopefully will find a career other than journalism,” Huckabee shot back in a message posted to his website, saying his views had been grossly distorted. “I would ask that he release the unedited tape of our conversation.”

And they did. On Tuesday, the editors of the magazine posted an audio recording of the complete interview that confirmed Huckabee’s remarks.

“His words speak for themselves, and it is a shame that he is now so quickly embarassed[sic] of them,” the editors of the magazine wrote on their website.

In the American culture wars,  perhaps gay marriage and adoption have been emphasized for political purposes, and with mixed results.  Some younger Republicans no longer feel that gay and other cultural issues matter so much as fiscal policy.  CPAC has the GOProud gay republican group as one of its February 2010 sponsors.

Mike Huckabee is utterly confused, bitterly frustated and his mind and tongue are not in sync.Could he be more absurd with his ridiculous assertions that"you don't go ahead and accomodate every behavioral pattern that is against the ideal".Who the hell this lunkheaded man is to decide what constitutes ideal, and then impose his brainless child on others.Heights of idiocy ,an appalling idiot of Huckabee's calibre and character can attain, and could say lets go ahead and accomodate those who want to use drugs. What does he want to say?Accomodate murderers, rapists, serial killers.Only a half-mad person could compare  sexual orientation or preferance with crimes.

I understand that Huckabee could be the front runner for Republicans. I would like to see Huck and Sarah as that would be a sure fire ticket to relect President Obama.

YJ,thanks for this prediction.Huckabee doesn't know that whereever Sarah goes, misfortune follows her.

I hope the IRS is following her as I understand she made a bundle last year.
