The Labour Party have had a long run.

As Gordon Brown retired alone to an upstairs room at 10 Downing Street, at 1am on Friday, to watch the full horror of Labour's local election meltdown begin to unfold he could at least draw some comfort from the fact that he could go to sleep in a city run by a Labour mayor.
