Gore challenges US to ditch oil
Al Gore a democrat who has devoted his life to saving the planet after a lost to George Bush is taking a different turn and challenging his country to ditch their dependancy on Oil, which we all know has contributed to the Wars and problems the world is facing.
The answer is to end our reliance on carbon-based fuels," he said in a speech in Washington.
"When you connect the dots, it turns out that the real solutions to the climate crisis are the very same measures needed to renew our economy and escape the trap of ever-rising energy prices."
To secure this green revolution, Mr Gore said the single most important policy change would be to "tax what we burn - not what we earn".
Cold turkey
Mr Gore's ambitious plan would still rely on nuclear energy for a fifth of America's energy needs. Many see the goal as unachievable.
Robby Diamond, president of a bipartisan think tank called Securing America's Future Energy, said weaning the nation off fossil fuels could not be done in a decade.
"The country is not going to be able to go cold turkey," he told the Associated Press.
"We have a hundred years of infrastructure with trillions of dollars of investment that is not simply going to be made obsolete."
US President George W Bush has often been criticised for not doing enough to tackle climate change.
Green campaign
At the recent G8 summit of developed nations in Japan, he did move the US closer to a consensus on climate change, by agreeing to language which makes achieving 50% cuts in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 a G8 "vision".

Gore's mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).
Al Gore defends his extraordinary personal energy usage by telling critics he maintains a "carbon neutral" lifestyle by buying "carbon offsets," but the company that receives his payments turns out to be partly owned and chaired by the former vice president himself.

I don't know that oil has ever caused a war! I must not be in "all". I might be a great idea to start one over oil!
Al Gore has only devoted himself to Al. He learned that from Albert! You remember Albert? There is no man made global warming! CO2 harms little and can not change the climate. Don't stick the exhast pipe up your nose!
Only the ignorant believe in man made climate change. Too many? Yep! If you believe man can change climate you need to do a little study. Al won't because it would expose him as a fool! Visit this site to prevent looking like a fool! http://vic.onenation.com.au/global-warming-01.html

Wars are fought all the time over ownership and access to resources. Conquering countries want to control valuable resources to swell their coffers. Oil is a relatively recent resource that countries and companies want to control. If there is a historian out there please correct me if I am wrong (and I may well be) but the Mongols swept through central Asia in part to control the spice routes. War as a tool for resource grabbing has a long history.
