गोरखा जनमुक्ति मोर्चा द्वारा 'स्वशासन' शुरू करने की घोषणा के साथ ही दार्जिलिंग की शांत पहाड़ियों में उबाल आ गया है. पिछले कुछ महीनों से चल रहे अलग गोरखालैंड की मांग ने इस सप्ताह जिस तरह करवट बदली है, उससे माहौल के और गरमाने की आशंका व्यक्त की जा रही है.


विमल गुरुंग ने 'स्वशासन' की घोषणा की है. शुक्रवार को एक आंदोलन के दौरान गोरखा जनमुक्ति मोर्चा की एक महिला सदस्य की मौत, किसी जमाने में पहाड़ के भगवान कहे जाने वाले गोरामुमो सुप्रीमो सुभाष घीषिंग को दार्जिलिंग से लगभग खदेड़े जाने और अब गोरखा जनमुक्ति मोर्चा द्वारा 'स्वशासन' की घोषणा ने पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार की भी नींद उड़ा दी है.

DARJEELING HILLS seems to be going out of control of the state government very fast. After months of democratic movement, the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM), the refreshed agitating group, has initiated a move to introduce home rule in the entire hills. This is a direct challenge to the state and the Centre that amounts to rebellion against the Constitution of India.
