The James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages announced a new funding program to support cultural and heritage infrastructure projects.

"This is the right thing to do, building cultural infrastructure, it's the right time to do it certainly and it's the right kind of project to be doing," Gordon Stewart, of the Independent Contractors and Business Association, agreed.

The program will fund up to half the costs, including upgrades or maintenance to theatres, performance halls, local museums and libraries.

Thank you for the post. Who will come up with the other half?

When did the Conservatives start getting a social conscience on heritage?  Are they trying to impress Quebec?  Where is this infrastructure being build?  How much did they allocate to it ? Who is paying the second half?   Sounds to me like the Harper government is getting ready for an election.
