Green Cards for $1 000 000
With the economy getting worse, the US Government gets louder and lighter on the immigration regime. Before the crisis nobody, or almost nobody, knew about the existence of EB-5 visas. Now, as most sectors in the US economy are in a plight, everybody is talking about the opportunities that the States are offering to foreign investors.
The EB-5 is an employment-based visa program that first started in 1991. It was aimed at attracting investors to the US and promoting US labor abroad. The number of Green cards that are available yearly through this program is 10 000. Those green cards, however, are only for those who want to invest at least $1 000 000 in the US economy. Even though there are people who could afford an investment of this type, the majority of the public could not do so. This is the main reason why this program was vastly unpopular thorough out the world.
The more the US economy suffers, the more the rest of the world gets to hear about the EB-5 program. The press in Eastern Europe , Bulgaria in particular, is releasing articles on this program and is dispersing information on the different ways and means of obtaining legal immigrants status in the US through the 'financial injection' visa.
Not surprising at all, the way the information on EB-5 was brought to the public was through the media by ... Century 21. One of the most affected by the finacial crisis niche of the economy is the real estate business. The government helped it as much as it could, now they found additional means through which the government would give them the so badly needed financial boost again. And the deal is simple, if you have $1 000 000 to invest in Florida's 'Lake Buena Vista Resort and Spa' newly built and 'no- buyers- found' complex, you will get a green card. As simple as it sounds. There are some interviews and background information check, of course. However, what was once a well-guarded secret known by a handful of filthy rich people, is now available to the general public as every little bit helps- the more people know about it, the higher the chances of somebody getting interested and investing are.
What is next- if you buy five vehicles made by Cadillac you'll get a green card too?!? With the economy getting worse, one old rule comes into play again: out of chaos comes opportunity. Let us hope that this opportunity will bring good people through the US borders because in times when banks and auto makers go on bankruptcy, $1 000 000 of honestly earned money is not that easy to be found.

My husband from India came over when they were handing out visa's and free PhD's from graduates of top universities like ITT Madras because there was a shortage of university profs in the states.
Of course, if you finished your PhD, you got a job and then permanent residency....
Visas were being handed out like candy also to Doctors.
My only doctors in the past 20 years have been Muslim, every one I have had.
I question, however that anyone can give a greencard if you buy property, lol.
One way to get a greencard is to have a job here and all your employer had to say is that he needs you and he can't find someone as good. And that gets you a greencard.
(however, I don't think you can get away with that if your employee is a laborer from Mexico...)

I was really surprised to read this story in 'TRUD'(this is a Bulgarian newspaper). The catch is that once you buy propery for $1 000 000 you tirn into an investor who qualifies for EB-5 visa and green card. Just like if you open a business here in the States...
