Six People Are Dead After a Greyhound Bus Crash on Highway 99 and McKinley in Fresno

The bus was traveling on the highway towards Sacramento around 2am when it swerved to avoid an overturned Chevy Trailblazer reports KMPH-TV. It struck the car however, then swerved and hit a Honda CRV before hitting a tree and falling down an embankment along with two other cars. The front of the bus was ripped off the in crash.

The bus was carrying 47 passengers, and officials have released information that four women and two men have been killed in the crash. One has been confirmed to be the bus driver, one was a passenger on the bus and three were traveling in the Chevy Trailblazer. At least nine were taken to the hospital with injuries.

"I had just woke up and I heard a boom once, and a boom again and the next thing I know we were down this embankment," said Linda Gee, a passenger on the bus. "It was horrible."

One witness said:

"It was like a bomb going off, explosion, it was just terrible," said Mike Coupland, a cab driver who witnessed the crash. According to Coupland, the bus driver had been driving the speed limit at the time of the incident. "There's nothing he could have done to avoid it," he said.
