A Mother upon hearing the news of a young man being decapitated on a Greyhound Bus, feels for the victims family, not realizing later it was her own son the media were reporting on.

Upon hearing it was her own son by the father, exclaimed "Don't say that. Don't say that"!

Bus victim's mom demands answers from RCMP 'Why didn't they do something,' grieving mother wants to know

WINNIPEG - Carol deDelley remembers her initial reaction when she heard that a man had been savagely stabbed and beheaded on a Greyhound bus bound for Winnipeg.

"Oh, my God, that's horrible." The 47-year-old school bus driver and cook from Elie, Man. - a small town about 40 kilometres west of Winnipeg - told the Winnipeg Free Press in an exclusive interview that she couldn't believe something that gruesome could happen in Canada.

"And then," she said, "my thoughts went immediately to the family." What deDelley didn't know then was that the family she was feeling sorry for was her own.

Tim McLean, the 22-year-old victim, was her son. Nearly 24 hours after the incident began on July 30, deDelley's former husband, Tim 'Bim' McLean reached her at home with the news. "Don't say that. Don't say that," deDelley kept repeating.

Thanks Paschen, certainly being the last to know, can be an unimaginable experience, when reading or watching it on the news not realising they are talking about your own child.

Barry Artiste, I like this story. It's good stuff. Tim McLean's mother is right to demand and expect answers - OK so they cannot bring back Tim McLean, but they must surely have means to immobilise someone acting atrociously?  Tasers, Tear Gas, Anaesthetic darts?

I thought about this when the media first reported that his mother was out of town, and I wondered how she was going to find out about this horrendous crime and then realize it was her own son... truly terrible...

Thanks Christina and Amy, not an easy answer how they could have stopped anyone who acts instantly and irrationally.  The mother wants answers from the RCMP who cannot provide even a question why it happened, they were not eye witnesses, the only one with answers is Vince Li. and He aint talking.
