Guardians of the Free Republics Behind Letters to 30 Governors

The group behind letters to 30 Governors demanding that they resign has been identified as the Guardians of the Free Republics. The letters were dated Monday and told the Governors that they had three days to resign from their posts.

The Guardians of the Free Republics said they wanted to 'restore America' by removing certain people from Government. On Friday April 2nd, the FBI warned police that while they did not see any threat of violence in the letters, they are concerned that this message could cause other people to act violently.

Tim Pawlenty was one of the Governors who received the letter. He told the Associated Press:

"We get all kinds of shall we say, 'interesting' mail, so it's not out of the norm," Pawlenty said Friday. "It got more attention because it went to so many governors."

According to the Guardians of the Free Republics website they want people to join that are:

Only courageous people of high spiritual intention who are willing to stand when called upon, who are drawn to this calling, with forgiveness in their hearts, should apply

The group has said that they want to accomplish their goals without violence, but the FBI and police are not taking any chances. They are also expecting that eventually all 50 governors will receive a letter.

The FBI also released an intelligence report stating that they believe that these letters are associated with what they call 'sovereign citizens', meaning that they believe these people think they do not have to obey the same duties as other U.S. citizens.
