Guatemala to join Petrocaribe

After a similar scandal in Brazil, it is now Guatemalan President Colom who cries his office was bugged. Something smells roten in the Americas!

2008-09-05 03:25:05 - GUATEMALA CITY (AP) - Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom says prosecutors are investigating who planted microphones and video cameras in the presidential palace to spy on him. Colom says the head of presidential security has been fired pending an investigation.
Presidential spokesman Fernando Barillas says at least 17 devices were found during a search Wednesday. He said Thursday that the microphones and video cameras were hidden in furniture in the presidential office, the first lady's office, the Cabinet meeting room and Colom's private office outside the presidential palace.
