Latest:
Jaipur: wednesday june 18 2008
Finally the Gujjar agitation saw an amicable end as the talks between Rajasthan government and Gujjar leaders who have been agitating from last one month achieved a dramatic end breaking the deadlock between the two parties.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje joined the discussions for the first time with the Gujjar leaders during nine hour meeting.
Government has made two seperate concessions but refused to divulge with the details.
sources said that a special status concession will be granted to the Gujjars, thus satisfying the Leader of Gujjars Kirori Singh Bainsla.
People heaved a sigh of relief as the agitation took heavy toll on the economic and tourism activity of the country.
The sources are of the view that two seperate concession to be granted are five percent reservation for the community in state services under entirely new cateogary which is excluding the existing quota.
and the second is writing to centre recommending that gujjars be included in the state list Of STs for quota in central service.
The Government will announce the details of the discussons today.
EARLIER:
Gujjar Leader K.S.Bainsla leading an agitation by the community has soften his stand and has said that he was ready to talk with Vasundhara Raje,Chief Minister Of Rajasthan if she showed inclination and positive attitude. This turnover might have benn due to the immense public pressure by the general public to stop the violence and damaging of the property by the agitatators.

As the news unfolding everyday their was a new development, Rajasthan top cop D.J.P A.S. was asked by the state govt to leave for long holiday, thus making him the scapegoat of the gujjar agitation fallout. He handed over the charge to K.S. Bains curently holding the charge of D.G.anti- Corruption Bureau.
Lalu Yadav Railway minister is the most worried man and he has appealed the Gujjars not to harm the railway property.
Many trains have been cancelled due to this agitation thus making lif difficult for common man.

This Agitation comes as a shot in the arm of Congress and its allies as it seems that they are fueling the sentiments by unfortunate remarks.
Recently the Ram Vilas Paswan, the ally and leader of Lok jan shakti party on behest of the Congress govt. blamed the Rajasthan B.J.P govt. for the fall out. He also added that he will take up the matter with the
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, which indicates that the congress is behind the recent gujjar agitation and may be funding it discreetly because the elections in Rajasthan are scheduled in the month of winter.
The ire of Gujjars will benefit the party in these elections as the gujjars influence large number of constituencies in the state due to their high demogaphic presence.
The congress needs the hindi heartland states desperately considering the recent debacle in Karnataka where it lost to B.J.P.

The High Court of Rajasthan has also taken a strong stand against Kirori Mall Bainsla, the agitating gujjar leaader and issued a fresh contempt notice against him for allegedly violating oder to restrain from violence.

The Gujjar agitation is however alienating them from others who are suffering through this agitation.

The political parties should be careful in handling the issue as this could divide the Indian society further more.
Earlier in story....
As gujjar agitation moves to other parts of the country,Rajasthan government on thursday air dropped pamphlets asking the agitators to refrain from violence and take up their demand with centre.
Meanwhile Gujjars have surrounded the national capital region and enforced Blockades in the areas of Faridabad,Loni and other areas adjacent to the capital, dirupting the normal life in the area.
the common man bares the brunt of these agitation while politicians who care the least have embarked on blame game and fighting lie dogs pitched against each other.
they are just competeing for cheap publicity.
Many have started questioning the demand of Gujjars.
they are of view that gujjars do not desrve to be given the S.T. status.
as it is ongoing story more news is required.....

reservation policy in india-
Reservation in Indian law is a form of affirmative action whereby a percentage of seats are reserved in the public sector units, union and state civil services, union and state government departments and in all public and private educational institutions, except in the religious/ linguistic minority educational institutions, for the socially and educationally backward classes of citizens or the Scheduled Castes and Tribes who were inadequately represented in these services and institutions. The reservation policy is extended for the SC and STs in representing the Parliament of India & state legislative assemblies.
