UPDATED: 4:10PM EST - June 20

A woman shot in a triple shooting in the parking garage of Baptist Medical Center late Thursday afternoon died overnight and her 11-year-old son is in serious condition.Police said 68-year-old Jesse Prindle Jr. pulled a gun and shot the woman and their 11-year-old son as they were leaving the hospital. He then shot himself and was pronounced dead at the scene.Denise Farve, 49, was transported to the trauma center at Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center. She died overnight. The boy was in serious but stable condition at Baptist. Police have not named the son, but family members identified him as Kai Prindle."I heard three or four shots, and I stopped. Then I heard four or five more, and I turned around and saw security guards and patients going everywhere," said hospital worker Melissa Gaynor.

At least three people have been shot, including one fatally, at Baptist Medical Centre in Jacksonville, Florida.

More details are pending.

Jacksonville police have not released any details as they investigate the scene, but a secretary at the center told the Times-Union she heard shots about 5:40 p.m. and could see security guards heading to the parking garage toward the emergency room.

The woman, Melissa Gaynor, heard two sets of shots — 3 or 4, then 4 or 5.

Another man who was parking to visit his wife heard a bang, bang, bang. Jack Lynch said he saw a girl being whisked away to the ER as a man’s body remained in the lot. No one was working on him, so he appeared to be dead. Evidently the girl stepped out of the elevator and he shot her, he told the Times-Union. The early speculation is that the man then shot himself.

The garage is below the children and adult emergency area where a ramp goes up to the ER. The hospital is at 800 Prudential Drive on the Southbank.

Bad Outcome Amy Channel 4 in Jacksonville is reporting the following

Man Dead; Woman, Child Hurt In Shooting At Baptist Hospital

A triple shooting in a parking garage at a Jacksonville hospital left one man dead and a child and the child's mother injured Thursday afternoon.  The shooting happened at about 5:30 in parking structure B at Baptist Medical Center on Prudential Road.  According to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Chief Rick Graham, a man shot his 11-year-old son and the child's mother before fatally shooting himself.

"We've got a confirmed male that is dead, deceased here in the parking lot. We've got a seriously, critically injured female shot also here in the parking garage near the emergency center. She has been transported to Shands hospital. We have a young, 11-year-old male that has also been wounded. He is still being treated here at the hospital, and he in fair condition," Graham said. "This is a very obvious domestic-related incident."

Alvarez, you live down that way.  I am still trying to figure out why they transported the woman to another hospital when she was shot by the ER?

amyjudd, I appreciate that you posted this story. It's scary stuff, tho ....

As people are pressured and stressed by the current economic issues, and general decline of the quality of USA society, people become more desperate. Each of us need to keep our cool, and be aware that many of the people we encounter may have a "hair trigger" these days .... tread carefully.
