Ajit, Nalwa Houses take honours Bagpipers usher in 39th Founders Day at GNFCS School MUSSOORIE, 4 Oct: The Pipe Bands (Girls and Boys) of Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School, here, ushered in the 39th Founders Day celebration at the school premises, today.
The Chairman, Jaspal Singh, and Vice Chairperson Amrit Kaur along with the two head masters ND Sahni and Anil Tiwari, as well as Sunil Bakshi from Vincent Hill and Shangri-la, the boys’ and girls’ sections, welcomed Chief Guest Harvinder Singh Sarna, General Secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Delhi, as well as Guest of Honour Bhupinder Singh Anand (member Shri Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee).
Sarna unfurled the school flag, following which he was presented the Guard of Honour by NCC Cadets (boys) of the school.
The programme began with the Shabad ‘Khalsa Akal Purkh Ki Pauj’ by the students.
The Inter House Marchpast was also held in both girls’ and boys’ sections. The display by the Pipe Bands of both schools (Vincent Hill and Shangri-la) stole the show. The band marching to the tune of ‘London Bridge Falling’ mesmerised the audience.
The ITBP Personnel from Mussoorie, especially invited for the purpose, adjudged Ajit and Nalwa House jointly as winners. In the Girls’ Section, Nalwa House stood 1st and Ranjit House stood second.
A choreographed rhythmic display called ‘Rythmic Karma’ by the junior students was the highlight of the day. The students dressed in colourful costumes synchronised perfectly to the background music. An Inter-house Shabad Gurbani Sangeet competition in solo and group sections was also held at the School Gurdwara, in which Harjeev Singh from Ranjit House - for his solo presentation ‘Na Jaana Haraymayree Gatay’ was declared the winner. Manraj from Ajit House stood second.
In the Group Section, Ranjit House bagged the first position and Ajit House was a close second.
The day concluded with an exhibition held at the hall of the school where projects in art, painting, science and geography section were on exhibit.
GNFC, a premiere institution of Mussoorie, was founded by Mehtab Singh in 1977. He felt that an essential growth to the community could come only through quality education.
Mehtab Singh and Sardarni Jasbir Kaur laid emphasis on selfless service.
House Prefects Sumit Bajwa, Lucky, Vipin Tanwar, Himanshu, Jasmeet Singh, Mohinder Singh, Nischit Rana, Lakshya Uppal along with the staff, parents and Alumni were present on the occasion.
