Well I still believe that we should clean up our acts

The CRU, which plays a leading role in compiling UN reports and tracks long-term
changes in temperature, has repeatedly refused to provide detailed information about the data underlying the temperature records.

It is thought that this could have triggered the theft. Climate change sceptics claim that some of the leaked messages discuss ways of manipulating data that fails to comply
with the establishment view that climate change is real and is being driven by man.

The email suggesting ‘hiding the decline’ is purported to be from Phil Jones, the unit’s
director.

He denied trying to mislead, telling the TGIF digital newspaper he had no idea what he
meant by the phrase.

‘That was an email from ten years ago,’ he said. ‘Can you remember the exact context of an email you wrote ten years ago?’

Another message has been interpreted as an attempt to control the publication of
research carried out by sceptical scientists.

One way of doing this would be by loading the panel of researchers who review papers ahead of publication with experts who are ‘on-message’.

Many years ago scientist tried to frighten us with a pending ice age, I lived through the time we had coal fires in every house in UK. The smog was awful and one could hardly see 5 meters in front of you. Then we had the thinning ozone layer that then led on to the green house effect and now we have the ice melting faster at the polar regions. At least today I am spared the awful smog of yesteryear, but the car fumes are toxic.

My wish is for clean air and I know humankind has the power to make that dream come true. I can see how our expanding population causes more pollution and we also have the power to stop or limit the pollutions that enter our oceans.

If there is not really a threat and the scientist have got it all wrong, what does it matter the direction of being made responsible for our pollution and we can see a problem our pollution and recklessness is causing to many species on this planet. Less fish in the sea, ruined coral poisonous chemicals in our rivers and lakes.

In my mind I see scientist giving us a wake up call we really need to be responsible and clean up our act.

Was anything really in decline 10 years ago ? News wanted !

There have been sporadic regional fluxes in temperature but over all global average is the main concern.  The lows are getting warmer, the highs are getting higher.  Extreme cold temps that historically kill disease, for example, are almost absent even now..  Please visit us and read more, including a very very very detailed report being presented to U.S. congress which is pointing out to congress that the monetary affects will be devastating if no action is taken now.  Credible scientists have already attributed more than 150,000 people die each year from heat waves and other consequences (violent storms...) of global warming, aka global climate change (not always going to be warm in your town)www.gogreen-america.org/bloggood luckEric

the largest significant factor of global warming or more accurately:  climate changes, comes from our vast ocean, the sea's reflective quality impacts the earth immensely on a daily basis, in our culture we tend to anthropomorphize every problem and view things from a human perspective more often than not and therefore believe that our population is the main cause, perhaps it is a contributing factor at the least but from space we don't see humans or buildings, we see a large percentage of ocean.

John Mcenroe said it best

That sounds an awful like lot common sense to me, Tomitheos.  The zealots don't care much for common sense.

Nice to see some still possess the quality.

Timitheos,What are your qualifications that allow you to make such an outlandish statement that because there is more ocean it is the primary cause of climate change? If you don't mind, please don't state your opinion as fact. It might confuse some people. For actual scientific findings, please visit www.gogreen-america.org, where you will find reports, as well as a list of independent, peer-reviewed, scientific community works produced by experts in the field of climatology, meteorology, physics, etc...I would like to suggest that forming opinions based on media, political, or other non-fact based information is not a wise method of making decisions.I have found many crack-pot articles claiming to disprove the overwhelmingly agreed-upon and documented facts that humans are the cause of major increases in greenhouse gases, which cause heat retention in the very thin atmosphere. I have a feeling that there is a "campaign" created by fossil fuel industries to create doubt within the general public as well as the political communities to prevent legislation which would restrict the use of fossil fuels. I think most people who have a good grasp on logic and world events might also suspect the same.

the earth's weather is a manifestation of self correctness and a means of restoring balance, there are so many factors involved in forecasting the weather that our most sophisticated computers cannot even predict the weather accurately for tomorrow

a volcanic eruption next week can significantly create a shift in atmospheric pressure and change all of our theories to date; and who is to say that that wouldn't be a natural reaction of the earth's correcting itself as well.

Thanks Tomitheos,

Common Sense appears to be so uncommon these days.

Yes, yes it does. Send the fish to prison now, quickly, before they cause any more trouble

This is a good story to post, but I just want to bring your attention to the fact that we do ask our members to use 20% to 80% highlight ratio, meaning at least 20% original content to an 80% highlight ratio. I won't take this post off the front page now, but the reason we ask is because if there is too much duplicate content, Google reads this post as a duplicate and indexes it really low in the search results. We just want our members to get the page views they deserve!

I was tired last night sorry I do know the rules my remark however was straight direct to the point just like a picture worth more than 1000 words. But thanks, now that I am wide awake I have added further comment to suit administrations wishes.

I didn't know that (the Google part). Thank you.

A view that conforms nicely to what many would like to see....save us having to give up anything to save the planet, I for one would like to see a LOT  more data in support before I stop my efforts and start celebrating.

We actually DON'T HAVE TO GIVE UP ANYTHING. There are many innovative solutions that would be easy to implement on an individual basis, regardless of the political communities' decisions on legislating people and businesses to be responsible. Solar panels, photovoltaic glass, and wind turbines are widely available, and many government programs provide monetary incentives to help people switch from dinosaur-technology such as burning coal to produce electricity and burning gas to power vehicles. All-electric vehicles are also fairly available. So if you buy a solar panel system and an electric car, you gain a sustainable energy source, with little downtime and you lose only your monthly payments to the gasoline and power companies, (45 days per year downtime, e.g. regional blackouts). Please check out the alternatives. One site is www.gogreen-america.org/blog.

Saw the report on that late yesterday. Gunna be real interesting.

Add that to the fact that global "warming" stopped ten years ago, i say go buy more mittens.

Great post, Amy.

We need to quit using plastic. not only is a derivative  of oil, which some have figured out how to reverse. but plastic doesn't breakdown in landfills, and is heavily polluting our oceans.

I'm more concerned with that than variations in global weather.

Who does believe any scientists after the recent disclosure regarding "global warming emails". Another new "religion" is exposed with all kinds of damaging plastics and more detrimental to our health and environment. Creating panic about our health, well-being, and whatever more can be imagined, in the hope that many will join the (activists) herd just for better research funding. Remember the "cooling crises predictions" of a few years back, or the highly publicized "Gore-Moore" crusaders, what simpletons we humans are, we can and do create volcanoes, hurricanes? Yes we do make smog, but folks get some scale to your thinking: use your own brains, senses and intelligence to clean up your personal and local act by not littering and the economical use of water and energy.
