Haggis imports to go back on the menu for Americans
How lucky are the American Now Public users, the US government announced on the eve of Robert Burns birthday that they are planning to relax the ban on imported meats which prevents the sale of haggis.
Haggis is a traditional Scottish dish and normally contains a sheep's 'pluck' (that's the heart, liver and lungs), as well as thinly chopped onion, oatmeal, suet, spices and salt mixed with the stock and traditionally baked in the sheep's stomach for three hours.
How lucky are you lot?!
Tuck in.. I love it =:-)
The US government said it is planning to relax the ban on imported meats which prevents the sale of haggis. The Scottish government said it was greatly encouraged by the move, which was also welcomed by haggis producers. The ban was introduced in 1989 because of concerns about the safety of British meat during the BSE scare. On the eve of Burns night, the US Department of Agriculture said new regulations were being drafted, in line with international standards.
