Haiti: Michel Martelly defeats Mirlande Manigat in vote

The BBC is reporting that Hatian Musician and Presidential candidate Michel “Sweet Micky” Martelly won the runoff vote on 20 March defeating ex-senator and former first lady Mirlande Manigat. Unlike the first round of the elections during which at least 2 people were shot dead, this round was relatively peaceful. However, Jude Celestin who took the largest share of the votes in the first round had to withdraw from the race because he was found to have been fraudulent.
