Half of food items being sold in Pakistan are adulterated: official report

An official survey in Pakistan’s Punjab province has revealed startling facts about the adulteration of food items with the substances injuries to the human health, as almost half of the samples collected from five districts of the province were found adulterated.


Federal Food Committee Chairman Lieutenant General Farooq Ahmed disclosed in a meeting of the committee that according to a survey conducted on the directives of the federal government in the Punjab province, the milk and milk products are highly adulterated items being sold in the market.


The survey report has been officially submitted to the chairman of the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission. The report is based on sampling of essential food items by the Government Public Analyst, Lahore.
