I have seen so much hate and so much propaganda about the Israel Arab conflict where year upon year of pointless killing of innocent humans has been seen as collateral damage by military or terrorist aggressors on both sides of the fence. But to find a solution to this problem, lets forget the history how this Zionist led group of Jewish settlers ended up in a land that is said to have been promised to the Jews by God. Thought the callousness of European anti-Semitic's and great evilness of Nazism can not be forgotten its not really relevant for seeking a solution to peace in the middle east.

The Jews are there and they are a democratic power and related to the original tribes that existed within the region for thousands of years. But even that history is not relevant other than it gave religious excuse for the European Jew’s to create the state of Israel. The real problem gives access to solution in its simple format.

The day that Israel wrongly or rightly declared Israel as a Jewish State. Their Arab neighbors attacked Israel in great force and showed their contempt by not recognizing the new State of Israel. One big sore had been religious sites and Jerusalem and another religious indifference the last being about land ownership. Since the day that the Arabs attacked Israel, Israel has been on the offensive its been the seem need of survival as they are surrounded by past and present enemies.

The Jewish Solomon approach is to be heavy handed in retaliation to show to their enemy Israel is strong and too think twice before invading Israel. The wise answer for its enemy is stop attacking Israel and we will cease fire. Israel has had the military power to create a Middle Eastern empire in the past Israel has retreated and used occupied land as a buffer zone. Each time land is handed back the land has been used as a terrorist base to attack Israel.

I am not siding with Israel as I think that the heavy handedness used is cruel and callous but Israel believe such actions are the best methodologies for Israel’s survival and the reason that Israel has evaded being invaded since its formation. The solution has always been on the drawing board and in Gaza, Hamas can stop the killing of its innocent civilians by stopping attacking Israel, yes the power is in the hands of the weakest party it just needs to stop all forms of terrorism.

For a total solution the Arabs only need to recognize Israel and stop all aggression. Looking at Israel to create the peace has always been the wrong option it’s a country in defense not one that is empire building. Israel is not in a position to put down its arms and that’s a fact. But the Arabs are and that factor is the only answer to a problem that has complicated it self in a gory history but as you see the solution is not a complex one.

In my opinion the solution in this article is the only one open to pave peace in the middle east if it leads to sensible discussion on how Arabs and Jews can live in harmony and prosper as neighbors. Israel has a lot to offer to its neighbors in technology and agriculture skills etc, etc.

heavihandedness, you say, for israel's operation in gaza?

try mass murder, ethnic cleansing, war crime, that's more like it.

moral bankruptcies lead to financial ones.

hamas is not as any sensible person knows, an aggressor. hamas talks tough but their homemade rockets are clearly self-defence.

50% of gaza children the UN says are suffering from malnutrition. 9% under five years old now as they are starved by israel a la warsaw ghetto, have brain damage and anemia.

420 children, some murdered playing in front of the UN school in Gaza were gruesomely masacred by Israeli shells.

heavyhanded? what sort of Top Story is this? NowPublic is a mothpiece not a citizens' journal.

I have not taken sides and I am just as horrified at the actions of Israel as you are, but the facts are clear that its the Arabs that are the only ones to provide the solution, each time they attack Israel retaliates. its just a senseless situation and its the innocent suffering due to hatred on both side of the fence.

Nowpublic is a mouth piece and I am using it as a peace activist of whom has seen only one solution. Both sides are just as bad as each other and one side has to stop and unfortunately its the weakest side and that is the reality. The world is not going to step in and the whole might of USA if turned against Israel is certainly not the answer and that could never happen.

Yes heavy handed was the phrase I used it explains the over reaction to atrocities that spur the retaliation each and every act of both parties carried out in hate is completely evil, lingering on these atrocities and spreading further hatred and siding with one evil party or the other does not help in providing solutions. But looking at the problem and its history clearly shows its the Arabs with the power to stop all this misery and then both the Arab leaders and Jewish need to talk about how both sides can live in peace and harmony.

You have the right to be bitter, but really need to see what I was stating and I have no good feelings for both parties that seem to think that causing collateral damage benefits a cause. This was never meant to be a top story but a mouth piece of common sense pointing to the only visible viable solution that this old ancient analyst can see through the smoke of hate and heavy handedness of extremism that leads to so many un-human deeds.

I am bitter at the hatred and the propaganda aimed by both parties to make each other look worst than the other evil comes in one shade and its dark and dense.

Excellent article, well done, well written.

I could understand renegades firing lego rockets into an enemy's territory and not caring about retaliation, but the firers here are either part of Hamas or not stopped by Hamas. Hamas was elected (sort of..) to represent the Palestinian people. And that's what makes them responsible for all this.

The government of any country at war has the moral duty to cease hostilities if it sees that a military war has been lost. This is the case here. Any continuation of aggression, with the legitimate reprisals (and yes, heavier than the attacks that provoked them, that's the IDEA of war, you win by superior force, DUH!) that continue and prolongate the suffering of the people they represent is criminal.

Hamas is criminal.

Hitler did the same, fight to the last man, with disastrous results for Berlin and his country. Others have done the same.

Hamas must stop this madness, for the sake of its own people.

Abba Eben, the former Israeli foreign minister once said that when it came to making peace "The Arab countries never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity".
