Hamas 'set for truce with Israel'
There was no immediate Israeli reaction to Thursday's announcement by Hamas officials.
'Obstacles removed'
Moussa Abu Marzouk, a deputy leader of Hamas, said the truce would be announced within 48 hours.
If this is done it will be a good
first step but the real test will be,
will both sides respect the truce
for 18 months. Hopefully they
will and will avoid another
Gaza war.
"We have agreed to the truce with the Israeli side for one year and a half [in return] for the opening of all six passages between the Gaza Strip and Israel, and the halting of all military activity and aggression," he was quoted as saying by the Egyptian state news agency Mena.
Hamas, he added, would first have to consult with other Palestinian factions.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if there could be peace over there!
Civilians have suffered enough. It's time for both sides to lay down their weapons....

I do not believe this for a moment! Hamas has continued to attempt to smuggle arms in---via tunnels and from Iranian ships. They have sent rockets into Israel daily and continue to do so. It is a ruse to buy some time for a further build up of their capability.

Hamas never honors the truce for any extended period of time. They seem to think lobbing rockets into Israel is a sport.
