24-year old Hamilton artist, James Blair is packing up his apartment as we speak. This is a hard move for James dealing with the loss of his husband"I did my best! and he was happy.. that is all that matters" He states. This move may seem hard but James has opted to make it a lot harder. On Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 6:00 PM he will move into his new home, a cardboard box located outside Hamilton's Famous Lister Block. He plans to live on the street and in shelters just to raise awareness about poverty. "Someone said I had to be the change I wished to see in the world" he states. He adds "It sort of reminded me of the advice of my grandfather ”Be the man you always wanted to be". He continues [I am a happy well off artist] For that I am thankful but, I must walk a mile in my brothers shoes”. "I'm a man who loves people.. it's that simple." [Text from his facebook event page] "I have created a video project called HOMELESS. I will be living out of a cardboard box and a grocery cart for 20 days trying to collect food And help others." Why am I living on the street? "This video will show my 20 day journey of sleeping on the pavement, sleeping at shelters, collecting donations for the artists pantry and trying to stay warm. I’ll also tell you how I feel and you will see any skin and body changes. This is going to be you and me out there in the cold…." I hope you feel it.

James is also holding a rally, candle light vigil and food drive for the foodbank he runs called the artists pantry.
