Michael Ignatieff, Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, has vowed that his party will no longer prop up the minority Conservative Government once Parliament resumes later this month.

The Liberals are not in a position to bring down the Government on their own.  In a 308 seat parliament, 155 votes are required to defeat the government.  The Liberals only hold 77 and need the BLOC Quebecois and the New Democratic Party to make this happen.

Apparently Mr. Harper has a few tricks of his own up his sleeve.  He intends to introduce a mini budget that includes the Home Improvement credit and according to CTV News he also intends to introduce legislation to extend Employment Insurance benefits to all Canadians effective immediately.

This move will somewhat clip the wings of Michael Ignatieff who has invested his political capital in Employment Insurance reform.

The questions now remain:

1.  Can Michael Ignatieff vote against EI reform? and

2.  Will the NDP and the BLOC Quebecois blink.

Sounds like an exciting fall coming up in Ottawa.

The Conservatives plan to introduce legislation next week that will enable Canadians to receive Employment Insurance for a longer period of time -- and the change would be effective immediately, CTV News has learned.

That means unemployed Canadians would benefit from the bill -- which also includes improved job training -- even if a fall election were called.

The move seems designed to take some of the wind out of Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff's sails, as he gears up for his campaign. He has sought to make EI reform a key issue, and has repeatedly slammed Prime Minister Stephen Harper's handling of the economy during the recession.

Apparently Libby Iggy once again ignores the wishes of 75% of Canadians who in many polls they do NOT want an Election Period!

What does this say about Libby Iggy?  Well if he ignores Canadians wishes now, what does that say about his contempt as Prime Minister Material?

Personally I don.t think there will be an election.  There is a statistical tie at 36% between Libs and Conservatives.  So basically no change if there was an election.  The BLOC and NDP have something to lose here, so let's see who blinks  first.
