This is so so sad! I hope the structure can be partly saved and then The Pier maybe restored to its full glory.

I can't begin to express how sad this is. I grew up a stone's throw away from Hastings and spent many a wonderful day fishing with my late grandparents from the pier and later still at pier discos in the ballroom. Hugely saddened to see this. :o(
