Hayden Panettiere Beat Out Kristen Stewart, Megan Fox and Lindsay Lohan to Win the Role of Convicted Murderer Amanda Knox

The movie will be shown the Lifetime in 2011 and will follow the story of Amanda Knox's move to Perugia Italy where she meets British roommate Meredith Kercher and Raffaele Sollecito. The movie will then look at the events leading up to Knox's murder conviction and her 26-year jail sentence. Raffaele Sollecito is currently serving 25 years.

The script is being written by Wendy Battles, who has worked on episodes of CSI New York and Law and Order.

Knox has always maintained she is innocent of the crime, which captivated audiences around the world as there were rumors Kercher may have been killed during some kind of sex act. Judges in the case concluded that Knox and Sollecito then faked a break-in to look like someone had entered the house and killed Kercher.

Knox's odd behaviour after the body was found also aroused suspicions - she was reported to have performed a cartwheel and done the splits while waiting to be questioned by police.

Knox meanwhile will get to do some acting of her own as she has been cast as the lead in her prison's Christmas show.

She will also appear in court in October in relation to the slander case that has been brought against her by the Perugia police department after she said they beat her and intimidated her during questioning over Meredith Kercher's death.
