A team of hazardous materials experts are checking a spill at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport in North Carolina.

Capt. Rob Brisley with the Charlotte Fire Department said the situation is under control. Firefighters pulled two black garbage bags from a US Airways plane at Concourse B after receiving a call from airport officials.

The contents of the bags are unknown, but Brisley said there's no threat to passengers or other people. The substance is being tested.

An airport spokeswoman said the plane was at the terminal overnight and the spill was discovered when the plane was being loaded with passengers’ bags for a flight Tuesday morning. US Airways said firefighters were called to help identify the substance before the plane could depart.

The spokeswoman said there has been no interruption of flight schedules or gate assignments. She said alternate arrangements are being made for the passengers who were supposed to be on the affected plane.
