In the continuing saga of drug cartel violence in Mexico, police announced the grisly discovery of three headless bodies in a Tijuana garbage dump.
Police in Mexico say they have found three decapitated bodies on a rubbish dump in Tijuana, in the latest incident of gang-related violence.
The victims were found with their hands tied, along with messages referring to drug-trafficking. Their heads, found nearby, appear to have been burnt.
In recent years the number of drug cartel related killings have soared in Mexico; reaching a new level of horror with the shocking release of violent video footage earlier this year on YouTube. Drug cartel members are suspected of posting the controversial footage.
There have been over 2,700 drug-related murders in Mexico this year, sparking public outrage and accusations of police corruption. This week alone more than 20 other suspected drug killings have taken place in Mexico, including the mass murder of five people on a ranch in the state of Chihuahua.
The three bodies found today have been positively linked to the drug trade by the cryptic messages written on their bodies. The messages linked the killings to the powerful Arellano Felix cartel operating in the Tijuana area.
