The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

it's a book and movie weekend. yeah, nerding out. i picked up "My Heart is a Lonely Hunter" for no other reason than it's a same song title from a song by the Anniversary. The book looked like in good condition but when I opened it the binding is torn and there's writing all over it. I picked up the compilation by The Anniversary called "Devil on our Side: B-Sides and Rarities". So i don't know if the book is going to be good reading or not. I have a couple of other books on the go - "Hip: the History" by John Leland, and "The Conquest of Cool" by Thomas Frank.

movies. there's been quite a few i've seen so far at the VIFF. seven is fact. Tonight i'm going to see "Flicker" - which is about a guy who invented the dream machine. As in this dream machine that i've seen at shows.

Marina of the Zabbaleen - "a city of garbage collector people on the outer edges of cairo, egypt"
The Chicken, the Fish and the King Crab - "follows a chef from Spain prepping for the biggest international cooking competition - the Bocuse d'Or, basically like "Iron Chef" european style.
Ice People - "a documentary of geologists digging and researching fossils in Antarctica. Polar science movie. Also shows the vast geography of Antarctica"
