UPDATE: The Obama speech in Germany was good for Germans but they don't vote. The cowardly Germans who are afraid to engage radical Islam were chastised by Obama for not doing anything about the terror threat. There was no applause after he said that. But when Obama stupidly mentioned America as torturers or as not welcoming immigrants which is amazing, the applause was great. Does Obama realize he needs people in Michigan, Ohio, Penn? Does he think he will get votes by giving a speech in Germany that any Leftist would cheer for? He and many of his followers think he is already POTUS. The arrogance is huge.
Op-ed---What good people the Germans turned out to be after America crushed them in WW2 and protected them against the Soviets during the Cold War. But how ironic the attitude they have about America delivering freedom from tyranny to the Iraqi people. Germany as a whole was against ousting Saddam and would have rather the US left Saddam in power. Now the children and grandchildren of the Nazi empire are ready to bestow Hitler style adulation on Barack Obama a man who’s only experience is that of 143 working days in the Senate and local community organizer. The descendants of those guilty of perpetrating the Holocaust are gathering in multitudes to show America who they prefer for POTUS. When was the last time the German people fawned over a politician in this massive manner? Wasn’t he a community organizer also? I believe his name was Adolf Hitler…mpress

Thanks for the comment Paschen excuse me for my lack of study in History and international Politics..Which fact am I wrong about? That America defeated the Nazi regime or that America protected West Germany during the Cold War? Or that the Germans were against the Iraq war. Maybe you think these people are not decendents of the Nazi regime..the same studies you speak of claim Americans are decendents of slave owners....

America didn't defeat the nazi regime. This is a typical American, "we're the heroes" distorted viewpoint, not based in fact. Any cursory reading of the history of WW2 reveals that. Most of the heavy lifting was done by Britain, Canada and Russia, and resistance movements in the occupied countries. America didn't really do much but come and pick up the accolades and the grateful women.
If any country in the world today behaves like Nazi Germany it is America doing in Iraq exactly what Hitler did in Poland. Since you are such an obvious supporter of American invasions and occupations, if your contention is true then you should by supporting Obama.

Not bad, however in order to be a little objective and more to the point, you should have and still could include all Allied forces and countries contribution, material, Political, Men Power, Casualties and battles won and lost and so on! Then and only then you may have a somewhat objective picture! And The Soviets where involved in the War against Japan as well as the one against Nazi Germany! Be well!

I think my Grand father would take issue with that as he encounterd many bloddy battles from france to Germany as a medic. I have a relative buried at Normady who died storming the beach. Thanks to all the others in the Allie forces but don't discredit my family. Like Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump our ffamily has fought and died in every war since we arrived he in 1749.

Against the invasion of Iraq in Europe? Millions of people demonstrating on the streets of London against the British policy. Germany, France and even neutral Switzerland against US intervention - and many, many millions of the 450 million EU citizens. Read the German, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish etc press here in Europe from the period and assemble a real overview of how Europeans felt and still feel about what happened/is happening in Iraq.
And as for your re-interpretation of WWII history. Well it isn't really worth much more of a comment other than to re-iterate what Moonwolf and Paschen have already said. Dip into your history books and actually read what is written there rather than making statements of "fact" that only partially reflect what happened.
Post WWII - the US might well have had the biggest presence in West Germany, but there were also French and British troops stationed there. Or don't they count?

Well, many White American are also of German decent, are they not? Maybe even you your self! German was once one of the two main languishes in the US. If my memory serve me right it fall short by one single vote to become the US official languish!
THe second World War is a rather complex issue all together, the US did actually very little to win it! The Soviet Union did all the work so to speak! Without the Soviet there was no end in sight at all, why the Atomic Bomb that ended up in Japan was meant for the Germans, yet not quiet ready!
Europe on many occasion urge the US to stop this escalation of the cold war! It was the Ost Politik of Willy Brand that calmed things down between the West and the East and help later Gorbachef to Dismantle the Soviet Union as well as Reagan his push did!
The West German Constitution is a Socialist Constitution not a Capitalist one, the President Bush senior was reminded of that as he praised the German Capitalist Society!
Any how no offence meant, but the Heil is punishable with Prison in Germany should you ever try to use it there! And the rest is really long and way to long for a comment!

This is just a rambling comment. Where to start?
First off, since you attacked mpress for being loose with facts I think I should repay the favor.
Official language? Do you even know what our official language is? Oh, wait, that's right, we don't have one.
Giving all the credit to the Soviets betrays your communist side. You do not mention how the Soviets were de facto partners with the Germans for the first part of WWII eagerly splitting Eastern Europe amongst themselves. And even after Pearl Harbor the Soviets maintained a non-aggression pact with the Japanese. Were your history books written by a communist or something? I'm not denying they ended up playing a big part in defeating the Nazis but you can just as easily argue that the Nazis beat themselves by falling prey to the Russian winter.
I'm not quite sure what you mean about the Cold War - but I'll try to tackle it anyways. Communism is a bancrupt ideology and economic system. Couple that with their arms buildup due to Reagan's buildup of weapons and the threatened creation of a missile defense system led to the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The West German Constitution was socialist? It was definitely different than America's constitution but I think saying it was a socialist constitution is only your opinion. Whatever the case may be West Germany and now all of reunified Germany have a economic policy that embraces free markets (although not enough in my opinion) and uses the government to help direct and aid in growth.

Hum, interesting BigT! Did I not say "If memory serves me right" and am I not merely responding to a comment rather than writing a Post that is not even properly marked as an OPINION! Only in the tag it is mentioned OPINION, no where else! The German constitution is based on two pillars, One is Democratic Federalism and the other is Socialism! There for a Social Democracy! Reagan his Missile defence program was a total failure and a waist of money! Reagan was also the one that said publicly in conference "in 5 minutes we will nuke the USSR" A joke that caused quiet a dislike and shock around the world! I am not against American nor America, I am against Imperialistic Politics and disrespect of the rest of the world by the American Government! I do criticise just has much any one else that behaves in such a manner!
China, Russia, India, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, even south Africa are the new World powers and we better adapt and work with then or be isolated and become a third World Country! Be well!

I never said that BigT, nor would I ever say that! That is you attempt of defamation or at least miss understanding it! I do believe in a democracy and that we are one world and personally I do not want to see any imperialistic country around, we had enough of that!
We have to work with the reality of this World and try to find balance and Justice for all!
I do not want the US to go down nor do I want the US to be Imperialistic! I want Justice for all and equal rights for all, may they be American or Algerian or French or what ever! We have to stop this madness of Nationalism and racism and paranoia! I do hope you may not see this as an affront or attack, since it is not meant to be such!

Paschen and Moon, good points. I must excuse my countryman for taking credit for this, and be so uninformed about history. It is true the without Russia the modern west may have well been speaking German. The great victory the U.S. was able to claim was defeating Japan. But that in itself was a crime of unspeakable inhumanity. One of the creators of this technology, Albert Einstein said if he knew his information would have been used for this, he would have become a watchmaker.
But we never learn from history, which is why we are on our way for another cold war. Russia is threatening to set up bombers in Cuba, once again! They have inked a deal with Venezuela, which has an anti-Bush policy. Believe it or not, Hitler gets more respect by racist-Christian nazi groups in America than Germany.
And you are right about the Socialist Constitution. Most European nations are what Americans would called "communist" nations. It is sad, but true, we get an education that teaches us in 30 seconds commercial ads and processed history books. So our education comes out pretty poorly when it comes to national affairs. When our TV says you are good we cheer for you, and when it says bad, we boo.
I would like to exclude myself from this bunch of people, as I have a pretty decent understanding of world history and political affairs, without the blinders of the American flag.

Modern revelations based on declassified documents of the war against Japan makes it clear that the USA had won the war before the atomic bombs were used and knew it! The obliteration of two Japanese cities and the hundreds of thousands of deaths was totally unnecessary, but the warmongers in Washington wanted to test the atomic bomb on real targets and display their might. That is what V_rod was referring to.

He also gets Obama's political history wrong too. Obama worked in the state legislature in Illinois, giving him more time as a politician than Bush or Reagan.
