In celebration of 50 years of Small gifts and big smiles, Sanrio has packed it all up and taken it on the road.  

Small Gift is a carnival of Sanrio sunshine and children's smiles. Janet Hsu president of Sanrio Inc., explains that the company's "trinkets are to be used as a form of communication giving warmth to relationships." When Sanrio, was founded in Japan in 1960; Shintaro Tsuji, the genus behind the idea - "sought to bring smiles to people's faces."  Something they have not forgotten or left by the wayside as they soared in popularity - when Hello Kitty joined the crew in 1974.

This carnival features a ferris wheel, miniature golf, midway games and a retro arcade! Even a booth where you can pose for photos dressed up as your favorite character!  No carnival is complete without food! And this one is no acceptation - sushi, fish and chips, tacos and sweets of all kinds are there for purchase.

More than 50 artists have exhibits on display featuring classical takes, abstracts and sculpture, all boasting Hello Kitty, Little Twin Stars, Pochacco and more. 

Of course the main event will be the Sanrio - Hello Kitty Store - Including 50 specially selected "must-have" products for Small Gift. Some are Sanrio classics and many are super-limited items and are only available at Small Gift events.

50th Anniversary Collector's Book - 50th Anniversary Tote Bags & Wallets - Multi-Character Bobbleheads  - Tokidoki 50th Anniversary Tee - to name a few.

Sephora's new line of Hello Kitty makeup will be available and the new Hello Kitty Smart Cars.

The Pop Up tour - is headed to Austin, TX - this weekend with stops in LA, GA and FL before ending up in New York City, New York, Dec 9 - 10.

Small Gift - Los Angeles is opened from November 12 - 21 at the  Barker Hangar, 3021 Airport Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90405

If you haven't already been, you've missed CupCake Decorating and a fun Scavenger Hunt! Described as a full day event, players went on a fun-filled quest for clues through the Sanrio Small Gifts celebration. Using brainpower and teamwork to crack codes, solve puzzles, uncover little-known facts and more. The participants picked up Sanrio goodies along the way, so everyone was a winner!

No fears for late comers, there's more fun to come - this Saturday November 20, 2010, Sanrio Celebrates Art - a day event with Sushi, Felt and Wood Figure Workshops. Then, in the evening "Kitty in Pink" - a retro '80s prom party that will rock you like a hurricane! ! (Tickets are necessary for these special events).
