NP Rank:
Heroes or Villains?
Christopher Columbus, for raping the Indies and leading a major genocide in their lands, was actually regarded a national hero. Moreover, in the United States, October 21st is celebrated as Columbus Day.
Hassan Nasrallah, for fighting for his people, leading the heroic Hezbollah and reclaiming his nation’s victory, was regarded a terrorist.
Well, in the same sense, both Che Guevara and Paul Revere must also be regarded terrorists, no?
It’s quite mesmerizing how words can have so much power and can cause so much bias and confusion.
Some ignorant Muslims were taught to hate Hezbollah because they are Shiites. How many Muslims admire and love Che Guevara who was not even a Muslim but a Marxist? Since when were Muslims allowed to hate Muslims? Since when did any Muslim have the right to call another Muslim nonbeliever? I’ll tell you since when. Since Muslims started to have some ignorant sects who are loud enough and have the guts to disfigure one of God’s religions and to deceive other more ignorant people. Since some Muslims started to lock hands with the great war criminal, George Bush, and dance as if they were ‘buddies’. And then they say God will not use Shiites in order to liberate Muslim lands and turn our nation into a victorious one. Did God actually tell them that? Definitely not.
Why is it that the Americans had every right to fight for their liberty on the lands that were never theirs and, now, people in the East have no right to fight for their liberty on their own lands? Why is Paul Revere labeled a national hero and Imad Mughniyeh a bloody terrorist (not comparing the two of course)? Why is Israel allowed to have a huge nuclear weapons program when Iran and Pakistan are not?
Many people are busy making a living, paying taxes, committing sins and enjoying themselves… that they don’t even have the time to differentiate between a hero and a villain.
Heroes are those who freed South Lebanon in the 25th of May 2000. Heroes are those who are fighting for God… for justice and liberty. Heroes are those who bravely said no to injustice… no to terrorism… no to Zionism. Not those who funded the Israeli war on Gaza… indirectly massacring innocent Palestinian infants. Not those who prohibited the least prayer for the heroes of South Lebanon. And, definitely, not those who shook hands with Shemon Perez!
Greetings to all the heroes of South Lebanon, may they achieve more and more victories!
Happy 25th of May to the entire Muslim and Arab Nation… and to all those who believe in Justice and Liberty!
Happy Resistance and Liberation Day!

Salaam and Duas to you for this great post.

Good job Anan. It was filled with passion and a refreshing vigour. Its so important to remind people that most of us are partial to certain countries and certain governments and its imperative that people open their eyes and think for themselves from time to time.
thnx.

Very interesting Opinion post.
You do bring a challenging view and yet a legitimate one as well.

Yeah. The tyrant is not bound to answer or argue. He would go on bandying and inventing lies and excuses to devour and blood let.

They are both terrorists - Columbus and Nasrallah. What is your point exactly? That somehow our various perspectives justify what they do or did?
Sorry, but it sounds like you are committing exactly the same sin as those you condemn. Unless I am misunderstanding you, you are saying that anybody who fights for the cause you believe in is a hero and, by the same token, the right you have to condemn Columbus (or whoever) also gives Nasrallah's opponents the right to judge him as a terrorist.
Convenient way to argue, but it doesn't clarify anything.

I can see you're not quite aware of what's going on in the world!
I will not say more since, for me, this is an article and not a discussion. Take it or leave it. I didn't force anyone to adopt my beliefs.

"I didn't force anyone to adopt my beliefs"
Unlike your cited heroes and/or villians - Columbus and Nasrallah - who are equally noxious.
I thank you for taking the time to respond.

Why are you always in a hurry? Take your time. Understand the meanings.
I meant that I use "persuasion" rather than "force".

Well I certainly understood you Anan. It is like comparing freedom fighters to terrorists...
We could say the Revolutionary Warriors in creation of the US they were terrorists, by UK definitions, but Americans call them freedom fighters. Really Anan it all depends on who has the most money to determine language use.
I consider the US Military a Terrorist Organization.... and people caught in their lying wars....defenders of themselves and homeland. The moment the US stops interfering in other peoples homeland...and not installing their puppet governments...we can consider them not Terrorists.
The US is an out of control Military Empire... They are dictators not liberators... The difference is that Dictators retain control of people, while liberators give control to the people. Certainly the US is a Dictator Nation, that lies to the Masses of people that it represents freedom. It remains loyal to its Military Spending and Expansionism..always provoking, and escalating War and trouble in the world.....to retain their false creditability...as a needed entity for human survival.

Nasrallah is descended from the Arabs who invaded Lebanon, which had for many centuries been a Christian country. He now insists that God is on the side of the Moslems. Christians are persecuted now just as they were under the invading Islamic armies of old. Nasrallah also makes plain his desire for to establish a strict Islamic regime in the region, to the exclusion of any other faiths and/or ways of making sense. He doesn't even pretend to want peace. He wants things only his way, and he claims he speaks for God ... but which one?
How is his claim that "god is on his side" and his behaviour toward Arab and Lebanese Christians - or any non-Moslems in the region - any better than that of the imperialistic Columbus? After all, the Arab Moslems stole the land from the Christian Lebanese, Christian Palestinians and Christian Arabs who had lived there peacefully from the time of Christ (7 centuries before the Prophet of Islam was even born.)
I am attempting to 'slow down' as you have suggested, and thereby gain a God-honouring and just view of the situation. Thank you for your response and excellent advice.

You live in a cave and you want me to read this nonsense?
Arabs invaded Lebanon? Is this even a rational sentence? Are you high or drunk?
Please stop writing nonsense. Go read some books.
at 14:21 on May 29th, 2009
My mistake. It was Moslems who invaded Lebanon and systematically slaughtered their Christian Arab brothers who had lived their peacefully for centuries. I guess you didn't read that book...
Your blustering is a typical response from one who pretends to have the moral highground, but it doens't change the fact that your so-called heroes/leaders of Islam are murderous bullies, and aside from one or 2 glorious centuries 700 years ago (which produced some of my favourite historians and philosphers) that's all they have ever been. Their tradition of systematic butchery of one another is the only thing that has prevented them from spewing their hate on the rest of the world until money from the west gave them the means to do so. I guess you haven't read that book either.
(and no I'm not high or drunk and I do read occasionally, but obviously not the same propaganda you've been ingesting.)

Slaughtered? It wasn't even a war.
The Romans HANDED the keys of Bilad Al-Sham to Omar Bnul Khattab who never touched a church or bothered a Christian. After Muslims ruled Sham, it remained totally Christian for years until the people started to revert on their own.
What do you know about the Arab world anyways? Or rather say what do you know about the East?
You're wasting my time on this by the way. I have work to do.

The only murderering and rapists, torturers I know of eminate from the US...It is a phoney democracy who selected GW Bush to usher in 911...killing Americans so their Politicans in the fake club of American Politics had an excuse to invade Iraq and Afghanistan...to seize their oil resources.
They sold WMD to Iraq to fight Iran...while at the same time creating an International Security risk to Israel in doing so.....and then claimed that Saddam had nothing to do with 911. Now what kind of government is that? Pretty bizarre, not reassuring, and pathetic liars. Their acts have killed millions of people...and now we blame Muslims. playing the religion blame game....to take attention away from the real criminals in Washington DC. I find it appalling.
911 was an inside job.....and many politicans knew this to include the people of the Supreme Court who selected Bush instead of Al Gore, back in 2000. How do we know this...Because there is never any politican who speaks out about, writes articles about, or supports the seeking of truth to the phoney 911 Commission Report...or finds answers to the many unanswered questions to 911... And since there are so many unanswered questions...how does a legitimate governement wage war on foreign countries for a crime they have not determined who did it?
From Obama to Hillary, to the Supreme Court Justices, to Nancy Pelosi, to Norm Penetta, to Joe Biden, and Newt Gingrich...none of them support the peoples request to answering the questions. None of them....And they say they are about a representative government? They wanted war...and look where it has taken them...Into Economic Calamity....
Obama is and has always been a GW Bush backer...and represents no change whatsoever.

Anan,
Obviously, not enough to win an argument with you. Nor do I appear to have the good sense to avoid one...
Your time here is not wasted - my enlightenment is proof of that. I considered your words, and researched the conquest more thoroughly, discovering that life indeed did go on quite normally for the Arab Christians living in Syria and Lebanon following their defeat and subsequent annexation to the Islamic Caliphate. Of course there were many Christian deaths - mostly soldiers - , but this owes more to the fact that they took up arms for the Byzantines against the invading Muslim armies than it does to the intolerance of the invaders. Of course, the destruction of a fighting force of any faith by the conquerors would be considered normal in those times.
So, please accept my apology for the inflamatory remarks I posted earlier - they were ill-chosen, uninformed and prejudiced. While I don't believe you are completely right in your assertion that there was not a war involved - clearly there was, the eastern Romans were not known for 'giving away' real estate - I must admit that your portrayal of those events is likely closer to the truth than what I wrote. And certainly, your perspective does more to honour the tolerance, grace and genius of leaders like Caliph Uthmar - who I can only believe would be turning in their graves at the actions of men like Nasrallah (and Columbus, and George Bush for that matter) - and that is a good thing, for in a world where 'tolerance' is expressed only in words but rarely in deeds, men like Uthmar and his ilk should be exalted.
Now I have gone and wasted even more of your time with this very long post. However, I felt I owed it to you, along with my humble thanks and apologies. If you will permit me to waste one more moment I'll ask you this question about Nasrallah and his agenda: is his zeal born of a longing for peace, or a lust for revenge? The answer will determine not only his fate, but yours' also, and that of your children. It may seem that I am a Weed rooted in a decadent culture halfway around the world, while you are a child of the East and the flower of Islam itself, but I am compelled to ask because I think perhaps even the destiny of my own children may well be determined, in whole or in part, by the answer to that question.

Dear Yellow Guitar,
Now you're no longer wasting my time on false accusations extracted from the media that everybody regards as 'Pinocchio'. You've obviously started to read and find the real information which is not affected by the western false media. Reading and searching for the truth is no waste of time.
I respect your apology a lot since those who hate us for no reason but racism and prejudice are not likely to apologize - not that we need an apology from people who have no respect for us.
I hope you understand that I was not open for discussion because, these days, the whole world knows the truth... even those who deny it. There are no more discussions and negotiations after the world saw what happened in Gaza. Now it's time for action... and action does speak louder than words. However, I did reply to you although, if you took a look at my other articles, you'll see that I totally ignore people who write similar comments.
As for Nasrallah. I'd like YOU to analyze it yourself. Imagine that you lived happily in a huge house with all your family members. Then some stranger broke into your house, killed many, severely harmed those who weren't killed, stole your money, denied you and your family peace, medication, food and education, destroyed your house and sat in there carrying on with what they're doing or moved to your neighbor's house after you succeeded and kicking them out. If you sat and watched without trying to bring justice to your house and your neigborhood, then you're a major loser and, in Islam, a sinner (even Christianity does not accept injustice).
Another thing is that we fight to liberate our lands and especially the Aqsa because it's our religious duty. Peace must be brought back to the Aqsa and the Muslim lands... in fact, ALL lands. The west gave the Crusades false religious reasons. They said they were fighting for Christianity when, in fact, they burnt pllllllenty of churches in the East and killed pllllllenty of Christians. You know a Christian doesn't walk around with a sign that says, "I'm a Christian." And later on, Eastern Christians faught with Salahuddin side by side in his war againts the West and till he liberated Jerusalem.
Don't we ALL long for Justice, Liberty and World Peace?
(I apologize for any typoes since I did not read what I wrote)

Dear Anan
you have done a great job, i have same thoughts like you but i think what what the people of the world think that those people who fight for their liberty and freedom, rights and getting justice are terrorists... May Allah awake the Muslim world...to raise its voice for their rights...
at 08:15 on June 2nd, 2009
Dear Anan,
Thank you for your gracious response. The Crusades were perhaps the worst crime ever committed in the name of Christ - and those of us who seek to know Jesus today still carry that shame.
I do understand the need to use violence to defend one's home and family. I would say it is evil to have to kill, but at times it may be more evil to sit back and do nothing. However, I think there is room for 'eye for eye, tooth for tooth' here: the punishment should not exceed the crime, or there is no sense of justice. What I mean is, if someone kills me, then my family should expect the right to put my killer to death. (they can refuse this right and forgive if they choose.) But my family does not have the right to annihilate my killer's entire family or community. With respect, the conflict in your part of the world seems to have gotten very far from this idea, and I recognize my vision is limited so I am not passing judegment, but there must come a time for reconciliation regardless of who has cast the first or the most stones.
Having said all of this, please do not think I am suggesting the west has a better way. Our prisons are overcrowded, our streets are filled with vipers, and our political system is badly damaged. There is little to offer here anymore.
Despite the often ungodly actions of His followers throughout the centuries, I choose to place my hope is in One who lived and died a stone's throw away from your home, spoke a language you would likely understand, preached a Gospel of peace and reconciliation, and would almost certainly be rejected by the west today as a Middle Eastern religious fanatic!
Thanks for sharing your light. I pray peace for you and your family.

Israel wants to eliminate and massacre an entire nation. It's Israel and not Hamas or Hezbollah. Not even ME.
The Zionist State of Israel is a terrorist, war criminal state. We simply want them OUT. Beck to where they belong. It's also a racist state. They hate Arab Jews (who happen to live in Palestine before those intruders showed up) who actually carry Israeli passports and want them OUT.
The WHOLE WORLD must punish Israel for their war crimes and for using illegal weapons against unarmed civilians.
Israel is not being punished well. The weapons that Hezbollah has are quite funny compared to those that Israel has. Israel is working hard (day and night) in order to eliminate an entire nation and to massacre the smallest infant of this nation. Yes, nobody's punishing Israel well. What we are doing is merely defend ourselves. We were never the first to strike.
Watch the news. Little Palestinian boys are throwing small stones at those who are throwing massive bombs at them. Do you think those Palestinian boys are being violent to Israeli soldiers who are hiding inside tanks? Do you think that the poor rifles and tiny bombs which AlQassam Brigades use are more deadly than the phosphorus that Israel ALWAYS uses against us (not only in Gaza)? Your people just happened to know about all those weapons when they were used decades ago to burn South Lebanon. Israel always used illegal weapons... not just lately in Gaza.
at 03:58 on June 3rd, 2009
Anan...It is not Israel.....It is the USA Zionist who are projecting their militarism onto Israel.
I would encourage to embrace Israel and to realize that Israel is being used by the USA. They want continual War with Israel and Palestine. Why? Because it makes Religion a farce to the world. How can a real religion exist, when the people murder each other on a daily basis? Also the American's are the Zionists, not the Israeli people.. They believe that the True Church will be established in America in Missouri....known as the LDS Church.
Most Religions are hypocricies..because none of them support each other. They expect the indifferences between each other will attract new members to their cause.
The US wants to make Palestine a State so they can legally sell arms and advanced weapons to Palestine which will cause greater war and making peace an impossibility.
The US has created Hamas, Hezbollah, Fatah...because these groups sprang up after the US began supporting Iraq's Saddam by selling him Weapons of Mass Destruction..to fight a long bloody protracted war with Iran.... Then the US under Reagan and Robert Gates who served under Reagan and now also serves under Obama as the Secretary of Defense...sold weapons to Iran as well.....in a deal to release hostages in Lebanon....the money proceeds were diverted to S. America to aid Nicaragua... This was known as the Iran Contra Scandal.
These criminal political acts by the US went unanswered as it caused great loss of life in the aftermath.....It created great insecurity to Israel....prompting people who could not attack the US directly...to attack Israel their friend instead......by bombing them.... Even Saddam bombed Israel with Scud Missiles....all because of what the USA did to him by betraying him....when they sold Iran weapons that would be used against him.
He broke off relations with the US..and invaded Kuwait to reclaim it back to Iraq.... I know you know the rest of the story....and the millions of innocent people killed by the US...and this continued protracted war.
The US used Israel to attack Gaza people. So I hope you know who the real enemy is.
Netanyahu does not believe a 2 state solution is the answer...because it only benefits the US who will sell weapons to Palestine. The idea is to stop the war, between Israel and Palestine. I think the building in the occupied territories should be a good thing..if Palestine agrees to support with people to work and to also agree to buy homes in the region as well. This would be a positive posture to achieve peace....by having a combined dual state organization.
It is possible because it works in Hong Kong and PR China.. They agree to a 2 party system one State system...I am sure Netanyahu really wants peace...and he is working against US policy...which is the USA is the beast in the Middle East.
I hope you see and understand the difference..between Israel and the US... I think Israel see's as Saddam did that the US has been the problem all along. Let's hope Netanyahu does not lose his life like what happened to Saddam...
Palestine and Israel should join forces to fight the USA....that is the real fight.
