A Croatian terrorist has been granted parole and will be deported to his homeland after serving 30 years of a life prison term for hijacking a plane and planting a bomb that killed a policeman.

Zvonko Busic, 62, came back to a warm welcome from several hundred people, who consider him a national hero who fought for Croatia's independence from the communist Yugoslavia long before that goal was achieved in 1991.
