HISTORY IS MADE - Barack Obama, the Democratic Nominee
MSNBC and CNN are now reporting that Senator Barack Obama has obtained the 2,118 delegates needed to clinch the Democratic Nomination for President of the United States. Into the 21st century, the United States has never had an African-American as the nominee of a major political party. That ended tonight. Barack Obama is the Democratic Nominee!

The polls are just closing in South Dakota and will close in about one hour in Montana. Hillary Clinton is expected to win South Dakota while Obama is expected to win Montana. BUT, regardless of those votes and delegates, Obama has received enough super delegates to win the Nomination now.
It really was an incredible primary electoral process for many younger voters who don’t remember back to the early 1980’s when Senator Ted Kennedy took the primary to the convention. Fortunately for Democrats, many democrats polled have said they felt the long primary process was beneficial and energetic to the Party.
The eyes now turn to Hillary Clinton who will give a speech tonight in New York and may possibly suspend or withdraw from the Presidential campaign. Clinton will likely step down and urge party unity tonight. But regardless, the page now turns, it turns to the general election in November where Barack Obama will face off against Senator John McBush McCain.
What a historic night for America. What a historic precedence for American society. Long standing barriers have come crashing down. And this young 46 year old African-American made it happen. Congratulations to Senator Barack Obama. More.

DCPSR, thanks for getting this story out so quickly. It will now show up on the home page for four hours. If new developments justify it, I'll renew this flag for another cycle.

DCPSR,
To believe in change within this country of any sort, the people needed to bring a new beginning and with that new beginning - an open mind. Question one self why this individual is different - not because of the party, not for the color of skin, not for the principles of religion or belief. Read between the lines of the lesson and teaching of the biases understanding of what we have learned, been taught to believe in this country.
Can the change be from an individual, who has felt the desire and need to place his life on hold to step, where some would fear to tread or for others the dream is not meant for them. While most people in this country the dream of running for Presidential election - is and always will be only dreams. Well for Obama this dream or possibly calling has only received another green light to continue forward and with it change.
As in all things in life changes will happen - no matter if anyone does something or not.
No matter who gets to the white house this next election term they will have more then their share work to do and I believe the changes needed are from outside the box we normal see every day in this country, ever.
opinion: just go outside your box and question what makes that box different then any other box or yours so special for that fact and you have started to make a change and be open minded. We are all humans, lets say all humans where one color - blue - then would the shape of our noses or the color of our eyes make the the difference in our lack of understanding of biases behavior and the harm that it causes everyone from the past to the present. Humanity needs to grow and with that growth comes change.
