Holly Lahti Missing: Lotto Winner's Husband Wants the Money
Josh Lahti Lays Claim to Missing Lotto Winner Holly Lahti's Money
Holly Lahti, who won $190 million in the Mega Millions, has not been seen since she was named a lotto winner. Holly Lahti and her two daughters ducked out of sight as the media jumped on the feel-good story of a single mom winning the lottery, but a history of domestic abuse also emerged
Her husband, Josh Lahti is accused of abusing her: both Holly and Josh Lahti were arrested during a domestic dispute in 2003. Since the couple is not legally separated, Josh Lahti is laying claim to half of Holly Lahti's lottery winnings. Under Idaho state law, Josh Lahti may actually have a case.
Josh Lahti said he did not know Holly had won the lottery until told by a reporter from The Associated Press last week.
"That's awesome! I won't have to pay child support!" he said upon learning his wife was rich.
Lottery officials say a 29-year-old northern Idaho woman has decided to collect her half of a $380 million Mega Millions jackpot in a lump sum payment.
After taxes, that leaves Holy Lahti with nearly $81 million.
