The Holy Virgin Mary appears in Egypt
National American coptic Assembly - washingtonDC - Mr. Morris Sadek-ESQ President-The Holy Virgin Mary has been appearing at St Mary’s Orthodox church in Al-Warraq, Cairo since October 12, attracting thousands and thousands of Christians and Muslims.
The Bishop of Giza, Anba Theodosius, announces that the Holy Virgin has appeared in a transfiguration at the Church named after her in Warraq al-Hadar, Giza, in the early hours of Friday, December 11, 2009, at 1:00 am. The Holy Virgin appeared in her full height in luminous robes, above the middle dome of the church, in a pure white dress and a royal blue belt. She had a crown on her head, above which appeared the cross on top of the dome. The crosses on top of the church’s domes and towers glowed brightly with light. The Holy Virgin moved between the domes and on to the top of the church gate between its two twin towers. The local residents all saw her.
The apparition lasted from 1:00 am until 4:00 am on Friday, and was registered by cameras and cell phones. Some 3,000 people from the neighborhood, surrounding areas, and passers-by gathered in the street in front of the church to see the apparition.
Since Friday, the huge crowds gathered in the vicinity of the church have been seeing luminous white pigeons soaring above the church during various times of the night, as well as a star, which emerges suddenly in the heavens, travels some 200 meters across the sky, then disappears. The huge crowds gathered around the church do not cease singing hymns and praises for the Holy Virgin.
I personally find no reason to be skeptical about the idea of the Holy Virgin Mary appearing on the domes of her church during the blessed Nativity Fast, especially at this time. Her appearance as such has been confirmed by the Church in the past (e.g. her appearance at Zeitoun, Shoubra and Assiut).
The video footage, coming as it does from a camera phone, isn’t the best of quality, but it is clear enough in my opinion–and in the opinion of the commentators, who, by the way, are not Christian, and who do in fact briefly note and proceed to reply to some obvious typical objections to the footage. The display at 4:50-4:54 shows that the illumined figure is, contrary to the illumined crosses, not attached to the church’s structure. As is clearer to the eye witnesses, the light of the illumined figure differs remarkably from the dull yellow light of the crosses–it is a mixture of a bright blue and white light (the blue light presumably corresponding to her blue attire); eye-witnesses have furthermore noted that it does not retain a fixed position.
The Mother of Jesus was appearing for tens of thousands to see in the land of the pyramids at a Coptic church constructed to commemorate the area in Egypt where she had come with Joseph and Jesus when they all fled from Herod. Starting in April, 1968, her apparitions of light changed the lives of thousands. Her appearances in Zeitun were astounding. She was seen by more than a million people. The apparitions were broadcast by Egyptian TV, photographed by hundreds of professional photographers and personally witnessed by Egyptian President Abdul Nasser.
Her first visit was on the night of April 2, 1968. Two Muslim watchmen at a garage saw a woman walking the roof of the church across the street. Afraid she was going to jump, they ran out shouting at her not to take her life, summoning a crowd below. The priest of the chapel was the first to believe it was an apparition. The longest single appearance was on April 30, 1968, when the vision remained from 2:45 am until 5 am. The nightly apparition attracted vast crowds of both Copts and Muslims, and was declared a genuine miracle by the Coptic Church.
On the eve of Tuesday, March 25, 1986 (Baramhat 16, 1702 am), the Holy Virgin Mary started Her apparitions in the church of Saint Demiana, the martyr in Papadouplo, in the Shoubra quarter of Cairo. The church of Saint Demiana in Papadouplo is a very small and poor Coptic Orthodox church and the surrounding “streets” are very narrow (about 4 meters wide). On this day, our Lady appeared beside the two towers of the church of Saint Demiana and was first seen by people living in the houses overlooking the church’s towers; Her light shone in their houses and they saw Her in Her full body surrounded by a halo of light over the left (western) dome of the church. This apparition was repeated several times, then the news spread and people from all sects and religions came to see the apparitions. The very narrow streets surrounding the church became overcrowded with thousands of night vigils praying and singing doxologies, liturgies and hymns to the Mother of True Light for whole nights.
Also, in 2000, an apparition of the Virgin Mary had been spotted in the small Egyptian town of Assiut. Outside the church, hopeful pilgrims each night chanted “Come Mary, Come,” or “Your Light is on the Cross,” hoping to beseech the Virgin Mary to appear between the two towers of the church, as she had done the previous nights, they say.
It is believed by Christians in Egypt, that the Virgin Mary appears in times of crisis and unrest in order to support them at the time of adversity. She appeared at the Zeitun Church in 1968, the year after a setback of 67 , and these days, when Copts face Islamic persecution from the Egyptian regime and their follow Muslims, she has appeared again.

Why has this not been on the BBC or CNN ? So in 1968 two Muslim men tried to save a Christian woman from committing suicide, they must be really evil then !

Well CNN and BBC like any other news agency have their agendas. Back then in 1968, people outside Egypt nd the middle east were so busy with other issues: vietnam war, soviet union (atheism), and the region of middle east was out of focus. Middle east only came to attention of the west after september 11 th and even until now, with all the communication technologies, people remain so ignorant about this region. WHY? because you see and you hear through your country-based media and press. So what they don't want you to see or hear, you will probably not know of, unless you search outside. Do you so much trust in CNN or BBC anway? Haven't the war on Iraq taught you something about how media agencias only report according to their own biased agendas? You can guess what's the agenda of CNN or BBC today....atheism....these agencies would rather report ghosts or some celebrity spotted crossing the street than reporting something REAL; something that goes against what they are trying to brainwash people with; namely that God doesn't exist! Sadly, these agencies only report what serves their agenda, and Virgin Mary's apparitions don't serve their stupid agendas. It is so easy to call anything a hoax, but extremely difficult to proof it, especially when it is not a hoax, but a reality. To approach some fact with a predetermined mind that it can't be true and will never be true, because your mind is set to deny it, is a big mistake that prevents people from seeing things as they really are. Virgin Mary appeared a lot and latest apparitions were in 16th of december. She is viewed by muslims who are more than happy and willing to deny these apparitions if they could. But when reality is so powerful, nothing and no one can deny it or hide it. For that reason only, the fact of Virgin Mary's apparitions was able to force itself through national and cable TV, who at first reported the appritions with a tone of cynicism, but when they found that they can't find a reality so powerful as these apparitions, they had to change thier tone, and acknowledge them. Same thing happened in 1968. And anyway, NEW YORK TIMES as well as other foreign new agencies reported the apparitions. Stay Blessed Seek the Truth and the Truth shall liberate you

Your ignorance is appalling! You obviously know NOTHING about the Islamic faith that is recognized by the Catholic Church. Their faith has a belief in the Blessed Virgin Mary and believes in the Virgin Birth of Jesus. They believe Jesus to be a Prophet. Their recognition of The Blessed Virgin is found in the Koran. The Islamic belief and worship of the Blessed Virgin as She is seen in the Catholic Church is more than our Protestant and Evangelical friends have to this day. So read more before the ignorance you show comes out. Let the hatred of the whole Islamic Faith by many Americans as if all Muslims are terrorists, not fool you into sins against thy neighbor. 1

I know more than you do about islam. I live in an islamic country and have access to islamic resources that you do not have. I read the quran and hadith in arabic (so nothing is lost in translation) and i am bombarded since childhood with all their fatwas and agendas and interpretations, etc. And because i live in an islamic country, i definitely know a lot more than you do, especially given that the violence that occurs here will not be reported by the national press and media. So take my word on this when i tell you about the attacks on Churches, the kidnapping of minor Christian girls, raping them, and enforcing them to islam, and many other disgusting stuff that i don't wish to speak of here. As for the islamic teachings, all i can say is that the "polished" version of islam that you get over there in America in brochures hardly have anything to do with the real islam as taught by their great early scholars and El Azhar institution. I did not say that all muslims are terrorists, but it is a fact that muslims are taught in islamic countries to hate Christians and this teaching is supported by numerous quranic & hadith verses as well as by their blood-history. And it is also a fact that those who attack Christians and attack Christian properties do NOT have to necessarily belong to a fundamentalist organization, which is very dangerous if you think of it, because this just opens the door wide to attacks coming from anyone, any group of muslim civilians and not necessarily from fundamentalist or radical terrorist groups. And ofcourse, the police gives a deaf ear and a blind eye to the persecutions and they contribute to them in most of the cases, as mentioned above, when they arrest the victims to force them to drop charges against the damages caused by the muslims who attacked them. finally, Just because they recognize Virgin Mary doesn't mean that they will welcome her apparitions, because that has a totally different meaning. For Virgin Mary to appear means that the Christian faith is right, otherwise Virgin Mary wouldn't have appeared from heaven and performed miracles. Muslims realize that and so they try to avoid thinking about it, but no matter how much they would like to deny the apparitions, they find themselves unable to because how can they just deny what they saw, and how can they deny the healing miracles which Virgin Mary performs to them in order to open their eyes. So that's their dilemma, but in all cases, respecting Virgin Mary does not mean that they treat Christians well. "Seek the Truth and it shall release you"

You have no idea how the Christians are treated in Muslim countries such as Egypt. It makes sense to me that she is appearing to everyone instead of only a single chosen visionary like so many other places. If there was a single chosen visionary with messages surely they would be killed in a place like Egypt.

I've followed this story for a while, but it's the first mention of a disappearing "star" that I've read of. I believe that the Blessed Virgin has appeared throughout history, but I have to wonder about strange "stars" with the constant videos and sightings of ufo's--a reality that's not even arguable anymore if you listen to astronauts, military and police authorities, and countless professional pilots. Whatever the ufo phenomena is, it seems to have interacted with humanity for ages, possibly influencing our religious beliefs. In so many religious origins, there are angelic visitations, strange moving lights in the skies, and assorted apparitions. This is true in Christian, Muslim, and Judaic texts. I love the thought of the Virgin appearing, but maybe it's best to step cautiously and search for the truth--no matter where it takes you.

I believe the Virgin Mary is appearing. She has also shown herself many times in Rome City, IN where I have seen her myself. The photos can be seen a www.oltiv.org She came there as Our Lady of America back in 1956. Some say she never left. Happy New Year to all and may we find peace on earth in 2010. Our Lady of America, Pray for Us!

Usually when the Blessed Virgin Mary appears it is a call to pray, I believe. Especially during these difficult times: the economic crisis, the troubles in the Middle East, abortion, etc. And when she does it appear it is sometimes before a large event. When she appeared in Egypt before this event it was a month before the horrific events of September 11th, 2001. We need to pray. When she appeared to the three children in Fatima she urged them to pray the rosary for peace.

Our Blessed Mother visited Saint Elizabeth, bringing her and St. John (in utero) The Good News, and she continues to visit us, bring us Our Lord Jesus, and bringing us to Him. What is different? Why wouldn't she come and visit us now? The world sorely needs her intercession and her compassionate care, her guidance, especially at this time when so many have strayed, and so many suffer because of leaving God out of their lives. So very many suffer because "The Culture of Death" is so prevolant in this world we live in today. She desires to continue in her appointed role as Mediatrix, she wants to continue to shower us with her abundant graces. She is our Mother too, and she wants all of her children to come home to her and to her Precious Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Throughout the ages, she comes to visit us, she comes to warn us, she comes to comfort and to care for us--just as any loving mother does. Thank you Lord for giving us your Sweet and Most Loving Mother. "Hail Mary, full of Grace! The Lord is with Thee! Blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus! Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death, amen!"

Mitch~You will know if this is of God by the fruits it bears. Satan had appeared to St. Pio disguised as Our Lady, but, he quickly saw through the disguise, and called out satan to show himself. If we see that the fruit is bad, then we will know. So far the apparitions have produced prayer and vigilance, honoring the Mother of Our Lord Jesus. There has been peace between the Christian and the Muslim in gathering to pay her homage, and in joy they greet her, not in fear. So far the fruit is good. "Blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus". . .

If people are praying to the great Mary, mother of the messiah Jesus then they are breaking the 1st commandment. That is the greatest sin they can commit. If they are honouring her, then in spirit I am with them honouring her too.
