Honduran Military lawyer admits "There was a Crime"
The top legal advisor for the Honduran Military, attorney Col. Herberth Bayardo Inestroza, admitted that a crime was committed in the deportation of former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya.
''We know there was a crime there,'' said Inestroza. `In the moment that we took him out of the country, in the way that he was taken out, there is a crime. Because of the circumstances of the moment this crime occurred, there is going to be a justification and cause for acquittal that will protect us.''
Col. Inestroza went on to describe the build up to the arrest. The Attorney General’s Office gave the arrest order and the Supreme Court ordered the arrest be carried out by the military. The Military claim that Hugo Chavez was using Honduran soldiers as “political tools”. As for the reasoning for the military action Col. Inestroza stated ''What was more beneficial, remove this gentleman from Honduras or present him to prosecutors and have a mob assault and burn and destroy and for us to have to shoot?'' he said. ``If we had left him here, right now we would be burying a pile of people.''
The Honduran Military admitted that Zelaya’s allegiance with Hugo Chavez was difficult to stomach and saw Zelaya as a “leftist of lies” and admitted that he would have a hard time taking orders from a leftist.
''We fought the subversive movements here and we were the only country that did not have a fratricidal war like the others,'' he said. ``It would be difficult for us, with our training, to have a relationship with a leftist government. That's impossible. I personally would have retired, because my thinking, my principles, would not have allowed me to participate in that.''
Honduras’ Deputy Attorney General Roy David Urtecho stated that an investigation has been launched to determine why the Military did not take the president to jail, but the Military attorney stated that there are provisions under Article 24 of the Constitution that give the Joint Chiefs the ability to make tough decisions based on the good of the state.
''I am 54 years years old,'' Inestroza said. ``I left my youth, my adolescence and part of my adulthood here -- an entire lifetime. You should understand it's very difficult for someone who has dedicated his whole life to a country and an institution to see, from one day to another, a person who is not normal come and want to change the way of life in the country without following the steps the law indicates.''

I am surprised they are so open and direct about it. It almost sounds like they did act in with a clear conscience and honest intentions.

As the OAS deadline approaches, self remorse seems to erode the Tyranny grasp of power. It is a bit too late to stop and wonder what they did wrong.

Aljazeera.net is a respected media outlet and your characterization of it as "activly promotes Terrorists !" is inaccurate.
Aljazeera.net is no more or less biased than any other media outlet.

Yes tina you are correct I wrote that post in a state of fury at a person not from or living in this country, as I am, who continues to try and push a dictator on us just like he has in his country. Again I offer you my sincere apology, my rage and passion for the truth to be heard is no excuse. Thank you for keeping me in check.

To Concerned Resident of Honduras (not verified) - please post under your account name on the site or do not post at all please. Just because you are posting as anon does not mean you may be rude and disrespectful to other members.

amyjudd,
The only reason I am posting anon is because there are always a few radicals that would like to keep the real information from coming out of the country and I might be in danger if my identity was to be made public. I did not mean to be rude but the poster rahul is reporting from his country and not Honduras and his constant propaganda is not helping the very fragile situation here in Honduras. I live and work here and I want to let people know the truth. It is people like rahul that have made a bad situation worse by asuming they know what is best for other people and these people should stop meddling. My passion for my new adopdtive country may have taken me over the edge a bit but is is always people like me that finally get the facts out !!! I have been actively sending emails to all the North American TV and radio stations to get this done but subversives like rahul continue to circumnavigate the truth by inserting thier opinion rather than facts! I have traveled to the capital, San Pedro Sula and La Cieba during this time and police are doing what they always do, keeping the peace. There is no military rule or suppression, there is a 10pm curfew until this situtation can be cleared up but the only reason for it is again the few radicals that will take any oportunity to reek havoc and vandalize homes and businesses. I am happy that the police are doing there jobs. Where I live I have not heard one gun shot or seen anybody being surpressed by police when they have peacefully demonstrated in the streets. So again sorry in my passion for the truth and disgust for rhetoric and unsubstaniated opinion make my blood boil!

I do not doubt that you are doing a lot to tell the story and with first hand information and accounts you have access to material that the rest of us do not have.
However, it is always 100% more effective to base an argument on facts and figures rather than insults and disrespectful remarks. Rahul did not insult you, but you insulted him, but all you have to do is tell the story that you know. I will take care of the insults.

Amyjudd,
Yes I understand that insults are not the way to go, hence the apology, but this guy is undermining the movement to keep a convicted crimnal from gaining office again. And from where he's reporting from and what he's saying it sounds to me he's most likely one of Chavez's goons being paid to cause trouble by distributing disinformation ! And as I said I live here and this type of talk is very dangerous to our way of life and I must continue to discount anyone who threatens to destroy years of democratic rule by supporting a criminal to be inserted as a defacto dictator! So that being said if you feel the need to ban me from posting you have the power to do so but I think that is going against what your site is all about !

Until you have proof, you cannot swing accusations so widely about anyone; I am not going to debate this issue any further, those are our rules as I stated before, and please stop commenting anonymously as you do not make these kinds of claims under your member name, which means you should not be making them at all.

Yes of course your right as I said to Tina in this thread, my passion for the truth to be heard and our bad stitution here is no excuse for unproven accusations. I have now registered as a member which makes me nervous but, I did so as to prove that I am willing to put myself in personal danger to get the truth out, as sadly I have heard (as of the time of this posting uncorroborated) one of the Zelaya supporters has killed a reporter. I will post as soon as I know for sure and have all the facts.
