Mexico lost an important game again. Changing coaches has not been the answer, from Ricardo La Volpe to Hugo Sanchez then Sven-Goran Eriksson in a short period of time, the national team still keeps sliding down.

Mexico Hires Aguirre

In his second national team stint, Javier Aguirre will attempt to straighten out the wobbling World Cup qualifying effort. Mexico -- which lost at Honduras, 3-1, on Wednesday and then fired Swedish coach Sven-Goran Eriksson -- will play at El Salvador on June 6 and host Trinidad and Tobago four days later.

Sven Goran Eriksson's personal manager Athole Still believes that the Swede should never have taken charge of Mexico.

The former England manager was sacked as head coach of Mexico after the 3-1 defeat to Honduras in midweek.

The result leaves the national team fourth in their World Cup qualifying group with three points from three games.

This is the third straight time that Honduras has beaten Mexico in Central America
. Carlos Pavon also kept his streak going as he scored against Mexico again. Carlos Salcido will be absent for the next game, this time due to ared card. And Sven-Goran Eriksson’s job is once again in jeopardy.

The Mexican team did not have the same flare that we saw in the Azteca. They were only able to score once on a penalty that never existed. The only positive note for Mexico is that Bolivia beat Argentina earlier on Wednesday and Mexico beat Bolivia; maybe they can carry that positive note over to their next game.

Bolivia didn't just beat, they routed Argentina earlier this week... so it does indeed seem that smaller countries are doing well in the preliminaries to the World Cup.  Good for Honduras!
