Honduras Today ! After The "Coup"
Well here I sit after a 4 day retreat in the mountains and I find myself thinking about the events that have transpired here in Honduras since the "coup". What a farce that most of the governing bodies around the world denounced the Mitcheletti government for ousting the criminal Zelaya. The Micheletti government, instead of paying for violent protests as Zelaya did, got down to the business of running the country by passing a buget (which Zelaya was suppose to have done back in Dec. 2008), paying Mayors who have not recieved thier proper pay for months and in general getting Honduras back on track. It would seem to me that when the Nov. elections take place we can put this all behind us but do we really want to!!! I know I've said it before but I am so very proud of the people of Honduras for standing up for thier right to Freedom and Democracy. I hope this has opened the world's eyes to the fact that they should BUTT OUT when Cuba rises up and ousts Fidel and when Venezuela has had enough of Chavez and kicks his sorry butt out of the country! People from outside these countries will allow, without sanctions which only hurt the poorest people of these countries, the same right to fight for Freedom and Democracy that is the center piece of all the same countries that have denounced Honduras for thier struggle, such as USA, Canada, UK and so forth. I personally have gone in to debt because tourism has slowed to a trickle and my Honduran employees have lost money due to less hours and tips. Honduras today is peaceful and law abiding and trying to get back to the business of paying the rent and feeding thier families. So I ask you to take action and call, write, email and generally become a pain in the backside of anybody who could afect the reversal of sanctions and adverse travel advisories that have put all but the biggest of businesses 2 years behide in thier endevours. Thank you for reading this artical but that is only the first step PLEASE TAKE ACTION !!!!!
