I will tell you what I know about Yvonne and Jessie’s disappearance on March 29, 2006. If Yvonne has a different story, she can tell me or the police, we would LOVE to talk to her.

Jessie was lured to the USA in May 2005. She was taken there by a person she met in Calgary, Alberta (Canada) while she was still in high school – named Donald Vaz (he is the younger brother of Lema [or Lima] Vaz). 

Donald took Jessie first to Ft. Lauderdale & The Keys, Florida; then to Manhattan, New York & Atlantic City, New Jersey; and then to Las Vegas, Nevada. 

In Las Vegas Jessie was handed over to (or introduced to or given to . . . different people call it different things) Yvonne (AKA: Angel) Hubrechtsen and her (then) boyfriend, Richard Barrington Walcott (not sure if they are still together). Richard is from Surrey, British Columbia (Canada).

When Jessie told me she was staying in Las Vegas until her 21st birthday (it was May 13th and her birthday is May 27th, exactly 2 weeks away), I was not very happy about it. I told her that if anything happened to her, if she went missing, who would I call?  Jessie gave me her friend, Yvonne’s phone number. Yvonne is also called Angel.

I did not need to call the number Jessie gave me for 10 months. When I did, I called and called and called, leaving voice messages, but not getting a call back. Finally I call-blocked my phone number at the suggestion of a friend of mine, even though I would have bet that would not have made a difference, after all – this was her friend and I was her mother and this was a dire emergency.

BUT SHE ANSWERED. I asked if this was Yvonne and she told me I had the wrong number. I told her quickly that this was the number my daughter gave me in May 2005 and my daughter was missing. She told me she only had that number for a short time, asked me a few questions about my missing daughter and we hung up.

My friends and I decided that she had asked too many questions . . . for a wrong number. So I waited a short time and called back again. Again I call-blocked my number, but this time I asked for Angel. I pretended to be a friend asking her when she was coming over.

Instead of telling me I had the wrong number, she first said YES, when I said, HELLO ANGEL? Then I asked her when she was coming over and she asked me WHO IS THIS? I hung up. I did not have the wrong number then or the time before. WHY WOULD SHE LIE, IF SHE WAS NOT INVOLVED or KNEW NOTHING??

Since then she has not got back to my many requests to her phone and to Peter Todd and anyone I knew who could try to get her to contact me. After all, IF she was not involved or knew anything, she would want to help, right? After all, she is not a monster, is she?? 

The girls who are victims of trafficking should call Crimestoppers and give information about the pimps to them. You can be anonymous and get a cash reward. If you give them the right information, the pimps may be arrested quickly and taken off the streets. Anyone with information about pimps can do this as well. You can give their names, locations, and info. about their crimes and activities. You can keep calling with information until they're taken off the streets along with their associates. There are Crimestoppers branches all over America.

@steve1 - it is a good idea, in theory. But these women have been beaten and brainwashed and it is not an easy thing for them to just pick up the phone and report the abuser/kidnapper/human trafficker.

JessiesMomGlendene, You're right. It's a sad situation. It's good that awareness is being brought to the issue though. A lot of people don't even know this is going on in America.
