Hoonah Alaska Standoff Ends After Tokuoka and Wallace Shot
Hoonah Alaska's Standoff by John Marvin Jr. Has Come to an End After He Surrenders; Marvin Jr. Killed Police Officers Matthew Tokuoka and Sgt. Anthony Wallace
The standoff began on Saturday in the town of Hoonah Alaska, that has only 800 residents and three police officers; tragically they now only have two after John Marvin Jr. shot two officers in what is being described as an 'ambush' and then barricaded himself inside his home.
The Alaska State Troopers were assisting, along with police from Juneau, the U.S. Forest Service, the Alaska Division of Wildlife Troopers, and the Coast Guard.
"We are offering up our condolences and our support to the community of Hoonah however we can," said Col. Audie Holloway, director of the Division of Alaska State Troopers. "Sadly, two police officers lost their lives. We hope to end this standoff without any further tragedy."
The Alaskan State Troopers are expected to provide staff to the town of Hoonah, but while the standoff continued, no one knew when their town could even try and begin to return to normal.
Businesses are closed on Monday and people were being asked to say inside and away from the standoff area.
"We heard a gunshot and one of my co-workers looked out the window and he saw one policeman down," witness Dirk Knehr told the television station. "He'd been shot, and another policeman was trying to drag him away and the suspect shot him twice. And then he just took off."
It is not known why John Marvin Jr. shot the two officers, but he has had issues with law enforcement in the past. He has now surrendered and is alive.

It 's always an unpopular position when one does not automatically accept the police side of the story, especially when a police officer is killed. However, I've seen many instances in my lifetime when the police have caused the problems that led to shootings, and I'm not going to condemn Mr. Marvin until he has a fair trial and has the right to be heard in a court of law. Police are the same all over the world. They have the guns and the authority, and they sometimes abuse both.

Wow ED your way in left field with your comment, He shot one officer for as I can tell from the reports for no know reason, the second officer was trying to HELP the 1st victim when he was killed( he must have abused his powers trying to save a life). I'm sure John Marvin Jr. was an upstanding citizen and a good person (b/c the people that break the law/kill are always both)The instances you speak of, were you the one wearing the silver bracelets? Get a clue, if abuse of powers are occurring there are legal ways to correct the behavior. Go fly your yellow flag and disrespect the country and all of the good law abiding people by siding with anyone that will kill just because. SWAT should have saved the tax payers a lot of money and just finished the job.Proud AMERICAN that ONLY flys the RED,WHITE and BLUE.

Yeppers, ol Ed is an IDIOT of the 1st order. Two policemen murdered, one(Tony) was hearing impaired he may have not even heard some of the action prior to the shooting. It sounds like Tony was trying to drag his partner to safety when he got shot. THAT is murder !!!

Actually Inukshuk, it was Matt that was dragging Tony to safety. I understand Ed's position, especially when ignorant of the facts, and hope that he has been enlightened in last few months. John Marvin Jr. is a murderer, and will hopefully meet with justice swiftly and harshly. He not only killed two men, but forever fractured families and the the community of Hoonah.
