I saw this mum and daughter sitting by their small fire on the edge of the desert in the pre dawn, while I was sitting with another Nomad family...I get up early and go wandering when I am India, looking for people to talk to and photograph..they are some of the best times of my life, my dawn ambles around the edges of the desert, how beautiful it seems, how exquisite the light...however I guess these two souls were thinking something quite different, they looked cold, hungry and wistful...I wanted to call them over, but I wasn't sure of the etiquette of doing that when I was sitting having tea with another family...so I just waved and took their photo, and they stared at me looking hungry and hopeful...the little girl had some thing wild and beautiful about her, and I wondered if her her harsh existence would crush the beauty out of her. Mum just looked tired and resigned. I turned back to the family I was chatting to. I felt sad and very, very white.
