One report states that at least 15 homes have been damaged by the explosion.

PLUM, Pa.- -- Emergency crews rushed to a house fire after an explosion in Plum Borough Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses near the scene told Channel 11 there was some sort of explosion along Mardi Gras Drive shortly after 1:30 p.m. One neighbor said it sounded like a bomb went off.

At least eight houses suffered damage.

Thomas Kelly said, "Our whole house shook. The house that blew up is completely gone."

Another resident told Channel 11 the immediate neighbors near the destroyed house do not have windows; the explosion blew them out.

Two STAT MedEvac helicopters were called to the fire scene. A 4-year-old girl is being flown to UPMC Mercy in critical condition with fractured legs and facial burns.

Another person was also injured in the explosion. The extent of that person's injuries are not known.

No names have been released.
