According to FOX News.com, the House of Representatives has voted overwhelmingly to permit Guantanamo prisoners into the United States for Trial.

The measure will still have to be approved by the Senate.

If the Senate passes this measure it will clear the way for President Obama to close GITMO.

Instead, the House stood by a Democratic plan to allow suspected enemy combatants held at Guantanamo to be shipped to U.S. soil only to be prosecuted for their suspected crimes. President Obama has ordered the facility closed in January but has yet to offer a plan to accomplish that.

Democratic leaders had to push hard to win the 193-24 vote because many lawmakers see political danger in voting to move detainees from Guantanamo.

Oh boy! The "debate" in the Senate should be very interesting. I heard Montana was willing to house them in that new jail they built that doesn't have any inmates.

You.re right, politics is getting more and more interesting:)  Montana is just South of me, I.m not sure I.m keen on that.

I have no idea what the fear is in having them in the US jail system - have you ever actually looked at some of the nutcases that are locked up there?

It isn't as if they are going to be in an open prison now is it?

And, if they are innocent, they should be released.

I don.t think that the problem is that there is fear to have them in a US prison system.  The opponents to this move don.t want them to be tried under the same rule as US citizens.  I guess we won.t know if they.re guilty or not until they are tried.

A really, really, really BAD mistake, Keep em in Gitmo and do the trials there or suffer the consequences!
