"Hi, this is user Mike (Mayuh?) in Galviston, Texas and this report is or was inspired by my roomate's landlord putting a 3 day eviction notice for non-payment of rental on my door yesterday. And last night I told him and he went and left the money in the office and today the landlord left the notice on the door. She can't accept the money, she's already begun the legal proceedings to evict them. And the thing is, he's a Galviston resident, he's a (??) survivor and you would, you'd think and as a small complex everybody knows everybody, you think she'd be tolerant of his being a date late with rent but landlords are since Ike, housings at a premium in Galviston, 75% of the housing in Galviston was damaged during the storm. So it's a housing crunch and the landlords are evicting people quick because they know they can get higher rents than they would get prior to hurricane Ike. And just to tell you in 4 weeks, I've been in Galviston for 4 weeks now and I've had 3 addresses li
ke most people in Galviston new housing is just temporary here. I stayed at a motel that was deemed unsafe to live in, it was condemned and the way we got around that, the owner and I got around that is he couldn't charge me rent but we worked out a barter deal where I work on the motel for a few hours a day in exchange for rent and that was fine. I mean the motel was messed up but it was okay. And the other place I lived, I lived on the job (??)."
