The Housing problem in mussoorie has become alrming as day passes by the story looks into the problem and the solutions to it.

Mussoorie, August 1
Need for enhanced housing in the hill resort of Mussoorie due to an increase in the number of tourists on an annual basis has given an impetus to the demand for a New Mussoorie township as there is no scope left for the town to expand either horizontally or vertically. Residents are of the view that distribution of new hotel licences by the administration without any thought has led to housing problem for staff working in these hotels. A study carried out in 1993-94, which showed that the permanent residential population of 25,400 during winter months which swelled to around 2,00,000, has now exceeded to whopping numbers with the coming up of these new hotels. Apart from these, the emerging legal and illegal guest houses have further legitimised the demand for enhanced housing in the town.
