NP Rank:
How to Blow the Best Job in the World
This man, Ben Southall has
to be one of the dumbest people
in the world. He is paid $150,000
to do what many would do for free
or even pay to do it. Yet he can't
even make the effort to make a daily
entry on the internet. They should fire
him and put someone there who will
appreciate it
"Ben Southall has the "Best Job In the World," but can't seem to hack it, critics say.The 34-year-old Brit, with an ego as big as the Great Barrier Reef he was "hired" to write about after winning a contest for the job, has only posted to his blog seven times since he started "work" July 1.That was as of July 24. What he has written on the Island Caretaker Blog is often pretty lame.
"
This is $150,000 for six months,
on a tropical island and very
little work to do. He was chosen
from thousands of applicants for this
dream job and now he acts like he does
not even want it. Many people would be
very happy to take his place.
"
"The successful applicant will live on Hamilton Island for six months and travel to other Islands of the Great Barrier Reef and report back on their adventures to a global audience via weekly blogs, photo diaries, video updates."They'll also have to talk to media from time to time about what they're doing so they can't be too shy and they'll have to love the sea, the sun, the outdoors."The fact that they will be paid to explore the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef, swim, snorkel and generally live the Queensland lifestyle makes this undoubtedly the best job in the world."They'll have a great job and be doing a great job for tourism in Queensland at the same time."
