How Can I Help Haiti? Ways to Give To Haiti Earthquake Relief
As the Haiti earthquake death toll continues to mount, many people are asking the simple question, 'How can I help Haiti?' There are several ways for people to donate to Haiti. Like any other time you take money out of your wallet, it's important to do a little research before donating to Haiti earthquake relief funds. Twitter is full of users suggesting ways to give to Haiti but it is important to double-check where your money is going before you write a cheque.
Here are a few suggestions on ways to help Haiti.
Yele Haiti Foundation Rapper Wyclef Jean has set up this earthquake relief effort. Born in Haiti, Jean has long been an advocate for the Caribbean country.
Doctors Without Borders This French organization has been on the ground in Haiti for years and knows the country better than just about any other anyone else.
American Red Cross The venerable charity has people on the ground in Haiti. According to the official Red Cross Twitter feed, "You can text "HAITI" to 90999 to donate $10 to Red Cross relief efforts in#haiti."
Catholic Relief Services This faith-based non-profit is also working in Haiti.
If you're looking for more ways to help in Haiti, here's a list from NPR on ways to give to Haiti earthquake relief.

I am not working, I can go and help. I worked on a disaster Recovery Plan for Walt Disney in California years ago. I learned that a key factor to recovery is gathering data.I could go and start creating a data base on laptop with just excel. Putting names on data base of persons in Haiti and developing data of persons calling in looking for friends and love ones. Do a sort on something unique for each person in Haiti, nickname, scare that maybe a person has always had. You can began to do a sort on unique information so that names can be matched. I want to help....I am not working....if someone can get me there I can go now......I am personally devastated with what is happening. If anyone reads this and respond on where I can call. I don't have any money, but I have knowledge that could be used to help....let me help.....please.....let me help!!!!!!!

Don't forget the canadian Mennonite Central Committee. While a small organization, their extensive use of volunteers and strong ethical intent ensures a high return on charity money is invested into their work. These folks operate clothing thrift stores that still sell clothes at rates the very poor can afford, they operate fair trade gift stores, and have a diligent disaster relief team who will most certainly be setting up shop in Haiti.

You of all peoples should be agasht at the way the missionaries are being treated. Does the bible say something to theffect that if your right hand offends you cut it off. Well cut these Haitian devils off and help the people near you.

Chantale, you would probably need to buy a plane ticket to Haiti and be prepared to spend a couple of weeks doing medical work down there. Keep in mind they'll have to set up field hospitals, especially as they've lost at least one hospital in the quake.
If this is not within your scope, donate to someone who is doing work down there.

REGARDING YOUR HEAVY EQUIPMENT TEAM IN HAITIUPDATE: Jim, I have been networking and have found a shipping company who tells me they can have the machine(s) shipped from Miami to Cap Haitia. They can move machines under 25 tons without a problem. Time line is 7-10 days, 3 days of which are for inspection on this end. The next challenge is the 5 hour haul from Cap Haitia to Port-Au-Prince. A new contact I made is Steve Warum from MI who has two Excavators and a Tractor Trailer. The truck is a demolition truck with a float which we can use to haul from port to work site. he has ATV's and tools which we can bring as well. He wishes to help. A local business associate of mine has an excavator to include thats plumbed for a breaker as well. Right now we have trucks to haul equipment to Florida, operators who wish to help if needed. Two excavators can come out of here in PA (one is mine) and two more with a truck if needed out of Michigan.Things I am Working On:I have contacted The Catapillar Foundation who has authorized some funds for release. I am waiting for a call back. I will inquire about Breaker donation.Things We Need:A relief group to join that's on the ground with food and water supply. Someone spear heading logistic efforts for a relief group in Haiti would be very helpful.Any contact(s) to communicate with regarding funding for shipping, etc.Fuel, oil, hydraulic oil source ( You mentioned you were working with USA Petroleum on fuel station setups). Can you steer me in any direction on any of these?
