Members of the pro-LTTE Tamil Diaspora are a peculiar lot. Conscience, they have none of it. They just want to secure the safety of the megalomaniac-in-chief, V. Pirapaharan & Co, (or what ever remaining) at any cost, even at the cost of the lives of their brethren, who are held hostage, by the LTTE terrorists.

In their last-ditch bid to save the murderer and the gang from the imminent annihilation, this bunch of cannibalistic double-crossers is rallying around screaming genocide and demanding a ceasefire.

Why do they demand a ceasefire, now of all times? Not so log ago, their favorite bunch of terrorists were touted invincible, a unit which could not be vanquished by any force human. Does the Diasporans really care for the lives of their kith and kin trapped in the crossfire? It may seem complex at the outset, yet the answer to that question is simple and straight forward.

I would get there, eventually. However there are a few salient points which need deliberation.

These Diasporans channeled their billions of Dollars to the LTTE terrorists during the last ceasefire (2002-7) which resulted in the LTTE accumulating state-of-the-art military hardware, including yet not limited to, aircrafts, submersibles and SAM missiles and also a solid infrastructure consisted of underground bunkers and the latest communication equipment. The above facts are self-explanatory as far as what a ceasefire means to the LTTE. Having been reduced both in their numbers and the territory under their command, they need a breathing space to revivify themselves.

So the LTTE are in need of a ceasefire, yet why does the revival of the bunch matter so much, to the Diasporans? It matters dearly because their dreams of a homeland, a mono-ethnic hell hole known as “Eelam/zham” depends very much on the fate of the LTTE. No LTTE, no Eelam/zham, as simple as that.

Secondly, almost all of them in enjoy the asylum status in many a western country. Once the LTTE is wiped out of the face of the earth and the normalcy restored in Sri Lanka, the reasons under which they were granted asylum become non-existent, hence the imminent risk of deportation.  

If they really cared for the lives of the Tamil civilian trapped in the “human shield” which provide protection for the V. Pirapaharan & Co, what they should do is to persuade the LTTE leadership to let the people go on their free will, like the 62,000 who have already done so, despite being fired at by the LTTE

Yet the Diasporans can ill-afford that, since it is those unfortunate civilians that stand between the LTTE and annihilation.
