Huge blast in the outskirts of Tanzian city Dar es Salaam, rocked the city. The Kenyan TV reports that the situation is panicky and peoples are told to evacuate the area, because the fire may spread.Officials confirmed  one death but said it may rise.

An ammunition dump on the outskirts of the Tanzanian city of Dar es Salaam has exploded, causing a huge fire, panic and the ordering of a mass evacuation.

Kenyan television reports say several people have been killed and a police commander confirmed at least one death from the blasts at a Mbagala army base.

Shockwaves from the explosions were felt throughout Dar es Salaam.

The authorities have advised workers around the city to vacate their offices, warning of further explosions.

Officials said the army planned to set off another huge blast in an effort to contain the continuing smaller explosions.

'Raining fire'

Several houses in the Mbagala area caught fire from raining debris and at least one person has died, said regional police commander Suleiman Kova.

Fires are still burning after the explosions, which lasted for about two hours. Deputy Minister for Defence and Security Emmanuel Nchimbi has cautioned residents to stay away from the area and to vacate all tall buildings.

No name.

With no offence,as a very concerned African, I think this is quite unfair to wananchi. The store shouldn't be built where wananchis live.

what excuse, would they give for this?

  • it was not you fault,
  • You did not know that wananchi were staying around there (innocent kids and women, as they are always the victims in any circumstances)
  • You will never reconstruct it there?
  • You were sending them away and they were not listening? For God's sake who is above the law here, Mwanchi or Government?

PLEASE LETS GET THIS CLEAR BECAUSE AN 100% SURE THAT AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS QUERRIES.
