Georgette Gagnon of Human Rights Watch has alsked the Southern African Development Council to apply pressure on the ZANU-PF Government of Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe.

The declarations come after the withdrawal of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangerai [MDC] from the National Unity Government on the basis of "bad faith from Mugabe". Ms. Gagnon also warned that lack of action could result in Zimbabwe returning again to a precarious position on the economic and political situation.

The situation in Zimbabwe is dire with the withdrawal of the MDC from the government. It is hoped that the situation can be resolved peacefully and that elections can be held to determine the type of leadership Zimbabwe needs.
